Today, August 15, we celebrate the feast of St. Tarcisius, the Patron Saint of Altar Servers and Martyr of the Holy Eucharist.
St. Tarcisius was a young acolyte in the early Church who was entrusted with bringing the Eucharist to Christians imprisoned during the Roman persecution. When confronted and asked to surrender the Holy Eucharist, he refused to give it up, choosing to protect the Blessed Sacrament even at the cost of his own life. His courage, faith, and love for the Eucharist continue to inspire altar servers and young people today.
As altar servers, may we follow the example of St. Tarcisius by serving with reverence, courage, and genuine love for Christ. May his life remind us that no matter how young we are, we can faithfully serve God and become witnesses of His love.
โServe Jesus present in the Eucharist generously. It is an important task that enables you to be particularly close to the Lord and to grow in true and profound friendship with him.โ
โ Pope Benedict XVI
St. Tarcisius, pray for us.
St. Tarcisius, patron of altar servers, inspire us to serve with faithful hearts. ๐
