𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐂𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄

When our conscience is awakened and we are confronted with our failures, the answer is not to make excuses—but to acknowledge what is wrong, make things right, and return to faithful obedience to God.

Our response should lead us through:

🙏 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — Honestly acknowledge our failures and seek restoration.

💛 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — Remember that what God has entrusted to us belongs to Him, and choose faithfulness.

🌿 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — Repent sincerely, make restitution where possible, and make the past right.

𝐒𝐀𝐁𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐇 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍 9:

𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐋𝐄: 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄-𝐃𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐍 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘

𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭:
“For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have so abundantly for you.”

— 2 Corinthians 2:4

𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝:
The lesson presents the ministry of Paul to the Corinthian church. His ministry was not easy. He experienced imprisonment, beatings, persecution, shipwrecks, exhaustion, hunger, and many dangers. Yet, beyond all these sufferings, Paul carried a “deep concern” for the churches. His difficulties did not destroy his love for God's people. Instead, Christ's love enabled him to continue caring, correcting, comforting, and serving them.
Paul's relationship with Corinth was also complicated. Some questioned his motives and criticized his changed travel plans. Rather than responding with anger or abandoning them, Paul explained that his decisions were motivated by sincere love. Even when he had to write a painful letter of correction, his purpose was restoration, forgiveness, and reaffirmation of love.

𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞:

When Christ's love controls the heart, ministry continues through suffering, serves with sincerity, and seeks restoration rather than self-interest. A love-driven ministry does not ask first: “What will I gain?” but: “How can I help God's people become stronger in Christ?”

Paul's ministry gives us three characteristics of love-driven ministry:

𝟏. 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓 — 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠
Paul begins by thanking God as the “Father of mercies and God of all comfort.” God comforted Paul in his afflictions, and Paul understood that the comfort he received was not meant to stop with him. He was comforted so that he could comfort others.
This is a powerful principle of ministry:
God comforts us so that we can comfort others.
Our wounds can become channels of ministry.
Our experiences can become encouragement.
Our struggles can become testimonies.
Our tears can help us understand the tears of others.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
We should not merely preach to people; we must care for people.
Ministry begins when we see people not merely as members, but as souls whom Christ loves.

𝟐. 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐓 — 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
One of the strongest lessons in Paul's ministry is that love does not mean avoiding difficult conversations.
Paul had to address serious problems in Corinth. He wrote a strong and painful letter, and he admitted that writing it caused him anguish. Yet his purpose was not to destroy them. His purpose was to restore them.
Paul understood that sometimes love must say: “This is wrong.” But love also says: “I am telling you because I want you restored.”
The lesson emphasizes that church discipline should have the purpose of restoration through forgiveness and reaffirmation of love. Sin must be dealt with, but it must be dealt with in love.
Ellen G. White observes that Paul corrected error without losing self-control and carefully made the Corinthians understand that he was acting as a friend of the erring.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Do not correct people to prove that you are right. Correct them because you want them to be restored. Before confronting someone, ask: “Will my words bring this person closer to Christ?” If correction is necessary, let it be: truthful but gentle, firm but compassionate, clear but not humiliating, corrective but restorative.

𝟑. 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐄 — 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲
Paul's ministry was questioned by some in Corinth. His travel plans changed, and some interpreted those changes as evidence that he was unreliable or did not love them. But Paul explained that his ministry was characterized by simplicity and sincerity, with motives that came from God.
His actions were not driven by personal interest.
He was not manipulating the church.
He was not using the gospel for profit.
He was seeking their good.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Ministry requires integrity.
People may misunderstand our decisions, question our motives, criticize our methods. But our responsibility is to remain: Sincere in our motives. Simple in our conduct. Faithful in our message. Pure in our purpose.
Our greatest defense is not always an argument. It is a life of integrity.

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍:
Paul's ministry teaches us that love is not merely something we preach—it is something we practice.
A love-driven ministry: COMFORTS those who are hurting. CORRECTS those who are wandering, with the goal of restoration. COMMUNICATES with sincerity, integrity, and pure motives.
Paul's ministry was not perfect or easy. He experienced anguish and anxiety. Yet through everything, Christ's love continued to drive him.

𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐋:
When ministry becomes difficult—may we remain faithful. And when people see our ministry, may they not simply see our programs, sermons, positions, or accomplishments. May they see Jesus.
Because ultimately, the greatest ministry is not what we do for Christ, but what Christ's love does through us.
Let Christ's love be the motive. Let Christ's character be the model. Let Christ's people be the mission.

More than 𝟖𝟎 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 gathered for the 𝐌𝐏𝐌 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, held on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟏–𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at the 𝐌𝐏𝐌–𝐌𝐏𝐌 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝, 𝟎𝟖 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝, 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲.

Carrying the theme “𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐎𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝟐𝟕,” the two-day training brought together church elders and leaders for a Christ-centered emphasis on discipleship, mission, leadership, mentoring, and the call of the church to participate in the Great Commission.

The gathering featured 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐥, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞; 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐚, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐋𝐮𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞; 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐳, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐋𝐏𝐔𝐌 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. The event also included a 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐫. 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐝, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Throughout the training, the speakers pointed leaders beyond positions, programs, and institutional responsibilities toward 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. Leadership was presented not as a pursuit of recognition or personal ambition, but as a responsibility to serve God and prepare people for His kingdom. Leaders were encouraged to listen to their congregations, demonstrate integrity and compassion, and lead through Christlike example.
A major emphasis of the training was 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩. The sessions described discipleship as a lifelong journey of becoming more like Christ and helping others follow Him. Mentoring was presented through relationships built on trust, biblical instruction, Christlike modeling, service, and empowerment. The training emphasized that effective discipleship is not simply about what leaders teach, but also about the character and life they demonstrate before others.
The training also challenged the church to place 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬. Church planting was presented as more than establishing a physical presence in a particular location. It involves prayer, understanding the community, recognizing God’s calling, responding to practical realities, and building a strong team. The emphasis was clear: while buildings have their place, the greater priority is to 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭.
Mission was likewise presented as a daily response to Christ. The sessions emphasized 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞, 𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫. Love was identified as foundational to the mission, while holiness and character were described as essential to credible ministry. The call was not simply to perform ministry, but to allow Christ to transform the life of every worker so that ministry would flow from a genuine relationship with Him.

The 𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐎𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝟐𝟕 emphasis further highlighted the need for unity in Christ and a shared mission. One session presented the planned 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, encouraging spiritual preparation and a personal connection with Jesus while calling the church to reach people through social media, engage communities, invite them into fellowship, and collaborate in mission.

At the heart of the training was the 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 —to go, make disciples, baptize, and teach. The sessions reminded leaders that the ultimate measure of ministry is not material success or institutional growth, but faithfulness to Christ’s mission and the transformation of lives for His kingdom.

As the gathering moved toward its conclusion, the commitment message of 𝐏𝐫. 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐝 called participants to respond to what they had heard with renewed dedication. The training became more than an exchange of leadership principles; it became a reminder that every elder, leader, and church member is called to keep 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.

With more than 80 participants registered, the 𝐌𝐏𝐌 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 closed with a renewed call to stand 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭, 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Because the mission belongs to Christ, the church is called to follow Him, reflect Him, and lead others to Him.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭: “Because He Lives, We Have Hope”

𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭: “And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. … And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!” — 1 Corinthians 15:14–17

𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝:

The church in Corinth was influenced by a worldview that questioned or denied the resurrection of the dead. Paul responds by making the resurrection of Christ the foundation of the gospel and the Christian hope. He reminds them that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised according to the Scriptures. He also points to numerous eyewitnesses who saw the risen Christ.

Paul then shows the seriousness of denying the resurrection. If Christ was not raised, preaching is empty, faith is futile, believers remain in their sins, and those who died in Christ have no hope. But Paul triumphantly declares: “But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead.”

The resurrection therefore is not a minor doctrine. It is the foundation of our salvation, our hope, our future resurrection, and our victory over death.

𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞:

Because Christ is risen, our faith is meaningful, our future is secure, and death will not have the final word.

𝐌𝐀𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐒:

𝟏. 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐌 — 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥

Paul begins by reminding the Corinthians of the gospel he preached: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised according to the Scriptures. This gospel was received, believed, and became the foundation upon which they stood.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
We cannot proclaim a risen Christ if we have not personally placed our faith in Him.
Our message is not simply: “Jesus died.”
Our message is: “Jesus died, Jesus rose, Jesus lives, and Jesus is coming again!”
We must keep the resurrection at the center of our preaching, teaching, witnessing, and personal testimony.
A dead Savior cannot save, but a risen Savior can.
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

Is the risen Christ truly at the center of my message and my life?

𝟐. 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐄 — 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞

Paul declares that Christ is the “firstfruits” of those who have fallen asleep. Because Christ has been raised, those who have died in Christ will also be raised at His coming.

The resurrection of Jesus is therefore God's promise concerning our future. Death may separate families temporarily, but it does not have the final word. The grave may receive our loved ones, but the grave cannot keep those who belong to Christ forever.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

This hope changes how we face life today:
When we experience sorrow—we have hope.
When we face sickness—we have hope.
When we lose someone we love—we have hope.
When we grow old—we have hope.
When we face our own mortality—we have hope.
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

When life's circumstances become difficult, do I live as someone who truly believes in the resurrection?

𝟑. 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐀𝐈𝐋 — 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲

Paul reaches the climax of his teaching with the glorious promise that at Christ's return, “the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

Then comes the victorious declaration: “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” Death appears powerful now, but it is only temporary. At the Second Coming, the dead in Christ will be raised, the living righteous will be transformed, and together God's people will meet the Lord.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

Because Christ has already conquered death, we don't need to live in fear of death. We can face tomorrow with courage, serve faithfully, remain steadfast when ministry becomes difficult, endure trials, and continue preaching even when results seem slow.

𝐖𝐡𝐲?

Because the resurrection guarantees that our labor in Christ is not in vain. The risen Christ transforms the way we face both life and death.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧:

The resurrection of Jesus changes everything.

If Christ had remained in the tomb:
our preaching would be empty,
our faith would be futile,
we would still be in our sins,
death would have the final word,
and there would be no Christian hope.
But Christ is risen!

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞:
We PROCLAIM because Christ is alive.
We have PROMISE because Christ is risen.
We PREVAIL because Christ will raise His people.
𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥:

Look again at the message of 1 Corinthians 15: “But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead.”

Jesus is alive!
Because He lives, your faith is not empty.
Because He lives, your sins can be forgiven.
Because He lives, your loved ones who died in Christ have hope.
Because He lives, your future is secure.
Because He lives, death will not have the final word.
And because He lives, Jesus is coming again!
So today, let us make a decision:

I will PROCLAIM the risen Christ.

I will hold on to His PROMISE.

I will live in His PREVAILING victory.

And when the trumpet sounds, may we be among those who hear the voice of Jesus and rise to meet Him in the air.
