Laus Deo! Two Augustinian Recollects Graduate from UST Ecclesiastical Faculties

MANILA—The Augustinian Recollect family has another reason to give thanks. Yesterday, May 30, 2026, two of our own graduated from the Ecclesiastical Faculties of the University of Santo Tomas (UST), marking the completion of years of intensive study and research.

Fray Ralph Laureen S. Ciceron, OAR, and Sr. Rhiza M. Eltanal, AR, both stepped up the stage, bringing honor to their respective communities through their academic work.

Fray Ciceron achieved a major milestone by receiving his Doctorate in Philosophy with his doctoral thesis, titled “Lonergan’s Transposition of Augustine’s and Aquinas’ Concepts of Religion” (Summa cm Laude). Sr. Eltanal’s thesis for the Licentiate in Canon Law is “The Impact of Digital Engagement on the Core Religious Values of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters: An Analysis of Canon 666 in the Light of the 2023 Document ‘Towards Full Presence’” (Magna cm Laude).

These achievements show the ongoing commitment of the Augustinian Recollects to solid intellectual formation. By tackling both classical philosophy and modern-day digital dilemmas, Fray Ciceron and Sr. Rhiza are living out the Augustinian search for truth (Veritas).

As they head back to their full-time ministries with their new degrees, let us keep them in our prayers. We hope their studies help them serve their communities and the Church even better.
