TWO MINUTE DAILY SPIRITUAL DEVOTION
βNow HOPE does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
β(Romans 5:5 NKJV)
REFLECTION:
What kind of hope do I have?
Do I search for hope beyond myself?
Where do I put my hope, in men or in the God who does not disappoint?
ACTION POINT:
When a Christian hears of the word HOPE, it is not the βworldly hopeβ that is founded on irrational wishful thinking, empty dreams, and man's deceitfully-inspired possibility, resulting in disappointments, frustration, and shame.
Rather, hope for a believer is the assurance that God will perform based on what is written in the Scriptures and what He has done in the past. The Bible declares that βFaith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.β (Hebrews 11:1)
Therefore, I don't "wish" or "dream", I HOPE with sure confidence that God will fulfill His promises. When I hope that God answers my prayers, or when I hope that God heals, I know and believe that He will, in His own time and way.
My hope is rooted in God's LOVE, in His trustworthy goodness and in His faithful promises. My hope is centered on His never-failing Word and His many precious promises, which are all 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ JESUS our Lord.
βThose who hope in Me will never be disappointedβ, says the Lord (Isaiah 49:23). Yes, my soul finds rest in the all-powerful and all-Sovereign God, for there is no hope OUTSIDE of Christ.
