Re: Clarification Regarding Weddings Organized by the โ€œROMAN CATHOLIC SOCIETY OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTISTโ€

To avoid confusion among the faithful of the Diocese, this letter is issued to clarify matters regarding a wedding ceremony reportedly organized by a group calling itself the โ€œRoman Catholic Society of St. John the Baptist,โ€ scheduled for February 25 to 28 at the Baguio Country Club.
Please be advised of the following:
1. Ecclesiastical Status: This group or church is NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE ROMAN CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF BAGUIO, nor is it a society recognized by the Catholic Bishopsโ€™ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
2. Validity of Sacraments: Because this group is not in communion with Our Church, any wedding rites performed by themโ€”though they may bear the appearance of a sacramentโ€”are not valid in the eyes of our Church.
3. Proper Procedure: Faithful wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony are urged to visit their respective parish or any parish within the Diocese of Baguio. This ensures proper canonical guidance, inclusion in the parish registry, and valid civil documentation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
