Vicariate Catechetical Celebration 2026
Sept. 22, 2026 | Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish, Citihomes Subd., Molino IV, Bacoor
As we continue to celebrate the National Catechetical Month, the catechists of the Vicariate of Sto. Niño of the Diocese of Imus gathered together for the Vicariate Catechetical Celebration, hosted by the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish.
The celebration began with the Holy Mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. Jundie Sumagaysay, MSFS, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish.
In his homily, Fr. Jundie reminded the catechists to always be open to the teachings of the Church and to the changes and realities of life. He shared that one way to live a long, happy, and peaceful life is to have a good and healthy heart by doing what we love—loving God and His Church.
After the Holy Mass, he led a recollection for the catechists. He reminded them that they are called to be models of faith and Christian life, and that they must continually deepen their knowledge of the teachings of the Church. He also shared that catechists are called to be Teachers and Prophets.
As teachers of faith, catechists need knowledge not only to impart lessons but more importantly, to be able to touch the hearts of the people they teach. As he shared, “Ang tunay na natututo ay minamahal ang kanyang natutunan.”
He also encouraged the catechists to show the face of Jesus in the way they teach and live their Christian life, both at home and in the Church. What they teach should also be seen in the way they live.
Following the example of the prophets, he also emphasized the importance of the prayer life of every catechist. Catechists need to make time for meditative prayer in order to listen to and understand God's message. Every mission should begin and end with prayer.
At the end of the recollection, he left the catechists with a challenge: to be ready to see, feel, and stand for God and for the people whom He loves, and to always stand for truth and goodness.
The celebration was a meaningful time of prayer, learning, and fellowship, reminding all catechists of their mission to share the faith, touch hearts, and bring others closer to Christ.
May God be blessed!
