Catholic Renewal Choir

Catholic Renewal Choir CRC is one of the resident choir of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish at Bacoor City, Cavite. Demie Mercado, Sis. Jovy Abatayo, and the late Sis. Market!

It all began with a vision in 1984 when a group of elders of the Love Flock Charismatic Community headed by Sis. Elsa Chanco who had a sally persistent to gather the youths to be involved in the Life and the Spirit Seminar which was regularly held in the parish. In a short span of time, the vision was then realized. The three elders candor for a genuine young people’s group that would recognize th

e artistry of music in praising God, they then formed the Music Ministry and named Catholic Renewal Choir. CRC in their work through the years have developed a big network as a choral group, composing of students, professionals, and youth advocates. In their work with their group, the desire to be critical and expressive of their particular situations are very much evident- the workshops, trainings, study groups, artistic interactions, assembles, outreaches, etc.- has put forward the best of its members. It is interesting to note that even if the members of CRC’s potential to earn from commercial ventures are very high. A lot of members linger in CRC because of its social and artistic orientation. All in all, members claim that CRC allows them to fulfill themselves, artistically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Since its inception, it has recognized the power of choral groups in developing confidence, empowerment, leadership skills, instilling positive values and relationship with people, improving one’s personality, empowering people, appreciating cultural and historical heritage, carving out visions and working towards realty. For more than 30 years, CRC has found a shelter within Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish and may be counted as one of the institutions of the parish. CRC received numerous awards, joined several choral competitions and performed in different events as part of the group’s continued vision and unfaltering commitment to deepen the experience in choral singing. We are truly blessed and thankful for the opportunity to witness this amazing event, which is held every year at St. John Bosco Parish – Makati.

The enthusiasm, artistry, and excellence demonstrated by each choir were truly inspiring. More than just a celebration of choral music, the collaboration among the esteemed judges, arrangers, competition organizers, and church officials is a beautiful testament to how we can use the arts to promote excellence and, at the same time, evangelize.

Through our God-given talents, we are able to share the beauty of music and spread the message of Jesus Christ, with the intercession and inspiration of holy people like St. John Bosco.

We would like to congratulate SJB MOMCA for another successful and meaningful event!

We would also like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of this year’s competition:

🏆 Champion: Chorus Vocales Philippines, under the direction of Sir Renier Aguilar
🥈 1st Runner-Up: Bulacan Master Chorale
🥉 2nd Runner-Up: Our brothers and sisters from Imus Cathedral, Himig Batingaw Choir

Your dedication, passion, and excellence truly inspired us and reignited the passion in our hearts for choral music.

We would also like to congratulate and thank the world-renowned choral group Imusicapella, together with their conductor, Sir Tristan Ignacio, and our very own conductor, Hans Amba, for sharing a truly world-class performance during the deliberations.

The mastery, musicianship, and craftsmanship you demonstrated were absolutely breathtaking. It was a privilege to witness such artistry up close.

And perhaps the most special part of this moment is the nostalgia it brought us.

It was 10 years ago when we first set foot at the altar of St. John Bosco Parish and were blessed to receive the 2nd Runner-Up position in this very competition. To return after a decade, not only as witnesses but as fellow musicians and servants of the art we love, is a beautiful reminder of how far the journey has taken us.

From one generation of singers to another, may we continue to use our voices to glorify God, inspire others, and bring people closer to Him through music.

As we celebrate 41 years of the Catholic Renewal Choir, we celebrate more than an anniversary—we celebrate a family built through faith, friendship, music, and service.

Through the years, many voices have joined our choir. Some have stayed, some have moved on, and some have gone before us, but each one has left a part of their heart in this ministry. The lessons they shared, the sacrifices they made, the laughter, struggles, and countless moments of service have become part of who we are today.

“Building Bridges” reminds us to connect the generations—to honor those who taught us, cherish those who served alongside us, and welcome those who will carry this ministry forward. May we never forget that being a church chorister is not simply about singing the right notes. It is about offering our time, our talents, and our hearts to God; serving His people with humility; and allowing our voices to become a prayer.

May the lessons of the past continue to guide us, may the present generation strengthen the bonds we share, and may the next generation find in us the same love and inspiration that was once given to us.

After 41 years, may we continue to sing as one family—bridging generations, carrying the legacy, and serving God through every song.

Imus Cathedral

Since we do not have Mass Service today, we took the opportunity to visit another Parish, attended the Eucharistic Celebration, and appreciated the beautiful music shared by the choir.

Thank you to our brothers and sisters from the Himig Batingaw for the warm welcome as we met them after the Holy Mass.

Goodluck on your performance at the Himig ng Kabataan, Alay Kay Don Bosco Church Choir Competition this coming August 29! See you there!

Psalm 89 "Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord"

The Courage to Believe Beyond Boundaries

This Sunday, we are reminded of the importance of having the courage to believe in Him, in the gospel we see that the Canaanite woman approached Jesus with unwavering faith despite every obstacle before her. Her persistence showed a heart that trusted completely in God's mercy. She refused to let rejection or discouragement silence her hope. Through her example, we can learn that genuine faith is humble, patient, and steadfast.

There are moments when our prayers seem unanswered, and we wonder if God is listening. This Gospel reminds us that faith continues to seek the Lord even in silence, trusting that His timing is always perfect. God's love reaches beyond every barrier of race, status, or background, welcoming all who believe. Our perseverance in prayer strengthens our relationship with Him and transforms our hearts. This is why we must always have hope and continue to trust in the boundless mercy of Christ.
