1 Mga Taga-Tesalonica 5:14-18

[14] Mga kapatid, ipinapakiusap din namin na inyong pagsabihan ang mga tamad, pasiglahin ang mahihinang-loob, at kalingain ang mga mahihina. Pagtiyagaan ninyo silang lahat.

[15] Huwag ninyong paghigantihan ang gumawa sa inyo ng masama; sa halip, magpatuloy kayo sa paggawa ng mabuti sa isa't isa at sa lahat.

[16] Magalak kayong lagi,

[17] palagi kayong manalangin,

[18] at magpasalamat kayo sa Diyos sa lahat ng pagkakataon; sapagkat ito ang kalooban ng Diyos para sa inyo sa inyong pakikipag-isa kay Cristo Jesus.

"The Prayer for Faith and Courage"
[John 17:13-19]

13 "But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.

16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.

19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth."

As Jesus prays for the disciples,
- He prayed that they receive His Joy,
- He prayed not to take them out from the world but to Protect them
- He prayed that they be Sanctified by the truth -- To “sanctify” something is to set it apart for special use; to “sanctify” a person is to make him holy.
