Thus says the Lord God: Lo, I am sending my Messenger to prepare the way before me. And suddenly there will come to the temple the Lord whom you seek, and the Messenger of the Covenant whom
you desire. Yes, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. But who will endure the day of his coming? And who can stand when he appears? For he is like the refiner’s fire, or like the fuller’s lye. He will sit refining and purifying silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, refining them like gold or like silver that they may offer due sacrifice to the Lord. Then the sacrifice of Judah and Jerusalem will please the Lord, as in the days of old, as in years gone by.

Since the children share in blood and flesh, Jesus likewise
shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one
who has the power of death, that is: the devil, and free those
who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their
life.

Surely he did not help angels but rather the descendants
of Abraham. Therefore, he had to become like his brothers and
sisters in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people. Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those to the Gentiles, and glory for who are being tested.

✠ 𝐀 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐮𝐤𝐞

When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord, and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons, in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. He was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.

He came, led by the Spirit, into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, Simeon took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel."

Lord Jesus, You are the light of the world; we praise You, and ask You to guide our steps each day.

Help us to love You, and serve You faithfully, and to carry our daily cross with You. As I light this candle, let it always remind me that You are our Light in darkness, and our Protector in danger our saving Lord at all times.

Our Lady of Candles, give me a mother’s protection for I need your watchful care. Comfort me in my discouragements, solace me in my fatigues, raise me after my falls, reward me for my successes.

Mahal na Birhen ng Candelaria, papuri at luwalhati sa Diyos sa paghirang sa iyo na maging Ina ni Hesus, ang liwanag na tumatanglaw sa lahat ng bansa. Pinararangalan ka namin sa iyong katapatan sa Ama, sa iyong pagmamahal at pag-aaruga sa kanyang bugtong na Anak. Sinunod mo siya nang ihandog mo sa templo ang Panginoong Hesus. Kinalong mo siya at iniharap kay Propeta Simeon na humula tungkol sa inyong mag-ina.

Ngayon, aming Ina, sa pagdadala mo sa kanya, iniharap mo naman siya sa amin upang pagmasdan namin siya, lapitan at kausapin. Habang siya naman ay nagpapala at tumatanglaw sa amin. ibulong mo sa iyong Anak ang amin mga kahilingan, laung-lalo na ito: (banggitin ang inyong kahilingan). Higit sa anupaman, ay ang liwanag na mula sa kanya upang tanglawan ang aming isip at kalooban sa paglalakbay patungo sa kaharian ng iyong Anak, kasama ng Ama at ng Espiritu Santo. Amen!

𝐀 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡

EZRA the priest brought the law before the assembly, which consisted of men, women, and those children old enough to understand. Standing at one end of the open place that was before the Water Gate, he read out of the book from daybreak till midday in the presence of the men, the women, and those children old enough to understand; and all the people listened attentively to the book of the law. Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that had been made for the occasion. He opened the scroll so that all the people might see it—for he was standing higher up than any of the people—; and, as he opened it, all the people rose. Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people, their hands raised high, answered, "Amen, amen!" Then they bowed down and prostrated themselves before the Lord, their faces to the ground. Ezra read plainly from the book of the law of God, interpreting it so that all could understand what was read. Then Nehemiah, that is, His Excellency, and Ezra the priestscribe and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all the people: "Today is holy to the Lord your God. Do not be sad, and do not weep" —for all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the law. He said further: "Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared; for today is holy to our Lord. Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the Lord must be your strength!"

BROTHERS AND SISTERS: As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. You are Christ's body, and individually parts of it.

Since many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the events that have been fulfilled among us, just as those who were eyewitnesses from the beginning and ministers of the word have handed them down to us, I too have decided, after investigating everything accurately anew, to write it down in an orderly sequence for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may realize the certainty of the teachings you have received.
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region. He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.
He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord." Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him. He said to them, "Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."

𝐼𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑎ℎ 9:1-6

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has shone. You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing, as they rejoice before you as at the harvest, as people make merry when dividing spoils. For the yoke that burdened them, the pole on their shoulder, and the rod of their taskmaster you have smashed, as on the day of Midian. For every boot that tramped in battle, every cloak rolled in blood, will be burned as fuel for flames. For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulder dominion rests.
They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father Forever, Prince of Peace. His dominion is vast and forever peaceful, from David's throne, and over his kingdom, which he confirms and sustains by judgment and justice, both now and forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this!

Each year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom. After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you done this to us?
Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety." And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?" But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and man.

Beloved:
The grace of God has appeared, saving all
and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires

who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness
and to cleanse for himself a people as his own,
eager to do what is good.

When the kindness and generous love
of God our savior appeared,

After all the people had been baptized
and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying,
heaven was opened and the holy Spirit descended upon him
in bodily form like a dove.

BELOVED LORD JESUS CHRIST NAZARENE, we come to You to help us. Life is a constant struggle, and we now feel the pain of our journey. Bless us Jesus and teach us to listen, to all the events of our life, knowing that nothing happens by chance. Everything that happens has a reason. When we feel the pain or sickness, teach us to cope with loving surrender and to believe in the power of healing. When we experience emotional, financial, and psychological brokenness, help us to rise up with belief that WITH GOD, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. We come to You today, to pray for healing and deliverance, and beg You to listen to our petitions, if it is for the greater glory of God!

We pray to You and our Mother Mary, with the hope that with Your infinite Mercy and her intercession, will hear and grant our prayers. Amen.

Then the people came to Moses and said, "We have sinned in complaining against the LORD and you.
Pray the LORD to take the serpents from us." So Moses prayed for the people, and the LORD said to Moses, "Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and if any who have been bitten look at it, they will live." Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

Jesus said to Nicodemus: "No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life." For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
