Faith begins with a choice, but conversion deepens as we act on our faith in Jesus Christ.

Every time we choose to follow Him, He changes our hearts and helps us become more like Him.

How has one small act of faith brought you closer to the Savior?

“When I say that I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true, I’m talking about something I know as well as I know that I live, breathe and think and enjoy the blessings of God and the knowledge of His plan for His children. And making all that possible is our Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer.”
— President Dallin H. Oaks, July 4, 2026

What President Oaks Knows With Certainty

There are some things you don’t hold as an opinion — you hold as a certainty. For President Dallin H. Oaks, the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ is one of them.

“If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself” (John 7:17). So it has been in my life. As I have served Him and my fellowmen, I have felt His presence and have come to know Him and the truths of His restored gospel.

We don’t have to look back to a covenant made long ago, fuzzy in our memory. We can make a new covenant now — just as we can hold a current temple recommend now. We can choose, this week, to take His name upon us and remember Him. And we can choose again next week. The gospel becomes a living, breathing thing in our lives as we keep choosing, over and over again.

🤍

You didn’t just renew a covenant this week. You made a brand new one.

We often say we partake of the sacrament to renew the covenants we made at baptism.

President Russell M. Nelson offered a deeper view: “Often, I hear the expression that we partake of the sacrament to renew covenants made at baptism. While that’s true, it’s much more than that. I’ve made a new covenant. You have made new covenants…”
(Quoted by Elder Dale G. Renlund, “Unwavering Commitment to Jesus Christ,” October 2019 General Conference, footnote 18)
