"Veni, Creator Spiritus, mentes tuorum visita, imple superna gratia quae tu creasti pectora."
Pentecost Sunday, celebrated fifty days after Easter, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, marking the birth of the Church and the beginning of her mission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations. As recounted in the Acts of the Apostles, the Holy Spirit came like a mighty wind and tongues of fire, empowering the disciples with courage, wisdom, and the gift of speaking in many languages. This sacred feast reminds us that the same Holy Spirit continues to guide, sanctify, and strengthen the faithful today.
On this solemn day, the Church invites us to open our hearts to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Pray the Veni Creator Spiritus, โCome, Creator Spirit, visit the souls of Your peopleโฆโ, asking for His wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. As we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, may we not only receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit but also live as courageous witnesses of Christ, bringing His truth, peace, and love into the world.
