Today we joyfully celebrate the birth of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. On this blessed Pentecost Sunday, the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles (cf. Acts 2:1โ€“4), strengthening them to spread the Good News to every nation and marking the beginning of the Churchโ€™s mission.

Jesus Christ established His Church upon St. Peter (cf. Matthew 16:18) and assured His followers that He would remain with them always (cf. Matthew 28:19โ€“20). Through Pentecost, the Apostles received the courage and grace of the Holy Spirit, empowering them to become faithful witnesses to the world.

As we honor this special feast, may we renew our faith, embrace our mission, and ask for a renewed outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives today. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ”ฅ

On May 17, 2026, at 7am Missa Pro Populo, the community of San Juan Nepomuceno Parish gathered to celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord as well as the World Communication's Sunday with the theme: "I am with you always". The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by our Parish Priest, Very. Rev. Fr. Lou-an P. Torrefranca, VF.

In his homily, Fr. Lou-an speaks about the Ascension as a moment of mission accomplished. Jesus had to leave His disciples physically, but this separation was necessary for true love, it opened the way to a deeper spiritual closeness through the Holy Spirit. Their last physical togetherness became the beginning of eternal spiritual union.

He also reminded the faithful that on this day we celebrate World Communications Sunday. Communication is a gift from God because it fosters closeness, even across distance. Just as Jesus remained present to His disciples in spirit, we too are called to use communication to build bridges, nurture love, and share the Good News.

As the community of San Juan Nepomuceno Parish celebrated the Solemnity of the Ascension and World Communications Sunday, we were reminded that separation is not the end but the fulfillment of a mission. The Ascension was not a farewell, but the beginning of a deeper spiritual closeness with Christ through the Holy Spirit. In the same way, communication, Godโ€™s gift to us, bridges distances and fosters unity. May we continue to live out this closeness by sharing love, building connections, and proclaiming the Good News with faith and joy.

Patricio A. Buzon, SDB, D.D., together with the clergy and our Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Louan P. Torrefranca.

โ€ŽIn his homily, Bishop Buzon reminded the faithful of the sacred gift of the Sacrament of Confession, a grace entrusted by Christ to His Apostles when He said, โ€œReceive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them.โ€ The Bishop emphasized that true peace and joy are found when we return to God with humility and trust in His mercy.

โ€ŽThe Gospel for today was taken from John 16:23b-28, where Jesus tells His disciples: โ€œAsk and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.โ€ In this Gospel, the Lord reminds us of the deep love of the Father for those who believe in Christ and remain faithful to Him. Jesus assures His disciples that they are never abandoned, for the Father Himself listens to their prayers and accompanies them in every moment of life.

โ€ŽIn his homily, Bishop Alminaza emphasized that true joy is found in our relationship with God. The world often seeks happiness in power, wealth, or recognition, but Christ teaches us that lasting joy comes from faith, prayer, and communion with Him. The Bishop reminded the faithful that prayer is not simply asking favors from God, but opening our hearts to trust in His will. When we remain close to Christ through the Eucharist, we discover the peace and joy that no suffering or trial can take away.
