The San Juan Nepomuceno Parish continues its journey toward establishing a sustainable Parish Stewardship Ministryโ€”an initiative that seeks to strengthen our culture of stewardship, generosity, and shared responsibility in the life and mission of the Church.

The Parish Stewardship Ministry began a year ago through the initiative and vision of our Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Lou-an P. Torrefranca, VF. He entrusted Rev. Fr. Norman S. Egay and his team with the task of helping organize and lead the Stewardship Committee. Through their dedication, the program has taken its first steps in fostering a culture of generosity and shared responsibility in our parish.

Today, we continue what has been startedโ€”not simply to maintain the program, but to strengthen it and help it grow into a sustainable ministry for the years to come.

At the heart of this continuing effort is the parish's Modified Tithing Program, which encourages parishioners to participate more actively in supporting the pastoral, evangelizing, and missionary needs of the parish through the sharing of their Time, Talent, and Treasure.

As part of this next phase, an organizational meeting was conducted to establish the Parish Stewardship Technical Working Group (TWG). The meeting brought together parishioners who expressed their willingness to become part of this new chapterโ€”contributing their time, ideas, skills, and commitment toward the formation, recruitment, organization, and development of the ministry.

This is more than simply creating another parish organization. It is about building a culture where everyone recognizes that they have something to share, something to contribute, and a role to play in the mission of the Church.

May the Lord bless this continuing journey of stewardship and inspire more parishioners to discover the joy of giving, serving, and building together.

"It is more blessed to give than to receive." โ€” Acts 20:35 ๐Ÿ™

The Ministry of Altar Servers of San Juan Nepomuceno Parish joyfully presents the young men who will take part in the upcoming Rite of Solemn Investiture with the Sacred Cassocks and Surplice.

For the past weeks, they have gone through formation, prayer, instruction, examinations, and practical training. Now, they are preparing to take another important stepโ€”not simply to wear the cassock and surplice, but to embrace the responsibility of serving the Lord at His altar.

On August 23, 2026, the Home Evangelization Program Interface (HEPI) Mission Wave 2 continues on its second day, bringing the presence of Christ closer to families in our parish community.

Through every home visitation, our volunteers are given the opportunity to listen, share the faith, offer encouragement, and become instruments of Christโ€™s love. This mission reminds us that evangelization begins with simple encounters, entering homes, building relationships, and bringing the joy of the Gospel closer to every family.

Please continue to pray for our HEPI volunteers as they move forward with Mission Wave 2. May God grant them strength, wisdom, and courage as they continue to serve and bring the light of Christ to every home they encounter.

May the Lord guide their steps and bless this mission abundantly. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿค

Parishioners of San Juan Nepomuceno Parish in Sum-ag gathered on Sunday, August 23, 2026, for the celebration of the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time, presided over by Rev. Fr. Robert Kristoffer A. Nobles, Parochial Vicar.

In his homily, Fr. Nobles reflected on the Gospel passage in which Jesus asked His disciples, โ€œSino bala ako para sa imo?โ€ (โ€œWho am I to you?โ€). He explained that the question is about recognizing Jesus place in one's life and developing a personal relationship with Him.

From the example of St. Peter, Fr. Nobles said that despite denying Jesus three times, Peter was still chosen to lead the Church. Peter's story serves as a reminder that God does not define people by their failures but by their willingness to respond to His call.

Just as Peter was chosen, every Christian has been entrusted with a mission by God. Fr. Nobles encouraged the faithful to remain committed to their calling despite their weaknesses.

โ€œMany people carry heavy burdens brought about by sin and past mistakes. Through confession, however, God offers forgiveness, healing, and the opportunity to begin again,โ€ Fr. Nobles said. The homily also highlighted the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Concluding his homily, Fr. Nobles reminded the faithful that many people devote their lives to pursuing wealth, power, and status. Yet these things can easily be shaken when difficulties arise. Instead, he encouraged everyone to place their trust in Christ, the firm foundation that remains faithful amid hardships.

On August 16, 2026, at the 7am Missa Pro Populo, the parishioners of San Juan Nepomuceno Parish gathered to celebrate the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time with the theme: "How are we Catholic?". The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by our Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Lou-an P. Torrefranca, V. F.

God is faithful and loyal, always ready to accompany and protect us through every challenge. In the Gospel, the Canaanite woman showed great faith by continuing to ask Jesus for help for her daughter even when He did not answer immediately. Her story teaches us to persevere, keep praying, and trust in Godโ€™s timing.

Sometimes, we become too serious and impatient when our prayers are not answered right away. Our God is a playful God who may test our patience and faith, but He never abandons us. Therefore, we should never give up when facing problems, but continue to trust in the Lord because our prayers may be answered in His perfect time.

After Communion, Fr. Lou-an blessed the parish volunteers who will take part in the HEPI Mission Wave 2. HEPI, or Home Evangelization Interfacing Program, brings Godโ€™s presence and our patron saint, St. John Nepomucene, into the homes of those who cannot attend Mass or may be struggling in their faith. Through this mission, the volunteers bring prayer, hope, and encouragement to every family they visit.

May we learn from the Canaanite woman to never lose faith, even when Godโ€™s answer seems delayed. As Catholics, may we continue to persevere, trust in the Lord, and become instruments of His love, hope, and presence in the lives of others.
