As a young boy in God's house, Samuel did not have the Lord's direct speaking. He was just there under Eli's direction. This is also our experience as children growing up in the church. We should not be surprised if, as children in the church, the things of God did not seem that real to us. Perhaps even now nothing in the church life seems that real to you yet. This is because you have not yet heard the Lord's speaking. However, our junior high and high school years are the time we need to learn to know the Lord's voice. To do anything requires some learning. Although Samuel did not yet know the Lord's voice, he learned a lot from Eli concerning how to serve the Lord. Because Samuel was obedient to Eli and was willing to learn, he grew not only in stature, but also in favor, with God and men (1 Sam.2:26). This indicates that although the Lord had not spoken to him yet, he was in the proper place with a proper attitude, seeking the Lord.

It is one thing for a young person to be spiritually discouraged, frustrated, disinterested and even worldly. At times every young person may find themselves in such a predicament. However, it is quite another matter when a young person, while spiritually weak, undermines the faith of other young people through depreciating, mocking or even discrediting the church, the brothers, the meeting life, etc. Invariably such conduct leaves a young person little room to repent at a later date. They find they have said so many negative things that it i hard for them to swallow what they have done. From such a history our young people should be taught to honor, respect, and revere the Lord, His church and all His saints.

YOUR RESPONSE DETERMINES YOUR DESTINY

Whether you are special or not is determined by your reaction to God's calling through the gospel. Your response determines your destiny. Samuel could have refused to be a Nazarite, but he recognized the honor of becoming such a partner with Christ. Many are called by God, but few manifest that they are chosen by choosing Christ and living for God's purpose. God has been operating in your life to bring you to Him for something He can accomplish with you as His partner. Even God has worked through your whole life that you could be here hearing this word. Will you decide to be one of God's special chosen ones? If you will, then your destiny will be the highest a human being can have, a life that will have an impact in the history of God and man for the fulfillment of the purpose of the ages.

We should also ask the Lord to raise up young people who have a heart for the Lord. Such young people must be raised up by the Lord as a group willing to be led, trained, and have a part in the coordination of the Lord’s work.

No matter what we tell the Lord, HE WILL LISTEN. No man can sympathize with everyone. But OUR LORD CAN SYMPATHIZE WITH EVERYONE. HE is SYMPATHETIC to EVERY ONE of OUR PROBLEM. He CARES for the AFFAIRS OF US ALL. In HIS HEART, there seems to be no one else's affairs BUT OURS. HE BEARS ALL OUR SORROWS. No matter how weak we are, He will SYMPATHIZE with us and BEAR our sorrow for us.
