FIRST SUNDAY OF THE YEAR 2026 โจ
The faithfulness of the Lord never changesโyesterday, today, and forever. As we begin a new year filled with hopes and uncertainties, we are reminded that our true assurance is found not in what lies ahead, but in Godโs enduring mercy and grace. The same God who carried us before will faithfully lead us onward.
โ From the preaching of the Word:
โThe just shall live by faith.โ
(Habakkuk 2:3-4)
This powerful truth, echoed by the prophet Habakkuk, speaks deeply to seasons when life feels unfairโwhen the unrighteous seem to prosper and the faithful feel unseen. Habakkuk did not hide his questions from God. He openly cried out about injustice, violence, and suffering, yet he chose not to walk away. Instead, he leaned into faith, trusting that Godโs wisdom surpasses human understanding.
Godโs response reminds us that His plans unfold in His perfect time. Though justice may appear delayed, it is never denied. While the proud rely on their own strength, Scripture declares that the righteous live by faithโnot by what they see, but by who they trust. Faith is not passive waiting; it is active obedience, steady hope, and unwavering trust even when the journey is unclear or painful.
Habakkuk teaches us that faith does not ignore realityโit faces it with confidence in God. True faith stands firm when answers are delayed, when prayers feel unanswered, and when doing what is right seems unrewarded. It leads us from questioning to worship, choosing trust even when circumstances remain unchanged.
As we begin this new year, may we live by faithโchoosing faithfulness over frustration, worship over worry, and trust over fearโbelieving with confidence that God is at work, even when we cannot yet see it.
