In order to serve our country during this difficult period in our political history, we should look for certain characteristics in the politicians we support, ideology, party affiliation, and positions on the key issues that are all important considerations, but this election year requires more from us voters. There are several principles we are looking for in a candidate. Considering those rights and morals as our main focus, Which candidate opens their eyes to the real happenings of the real world? Being with the people and fighting for them was something we couldn't deny, and we couldn't compromise by being lenient for what he sees, feels, and knows. For so many years, we have seen a lot from our government which contrasts some of our beliefs and rights as an individual. They were infiltrated, abused, enslaved, despised, and, most of all, killed. for human life is disregarded and put into tombstones. Now it's our time to choose to whom we shall entrust our lives. I believe that it is more significant if we now think and act.

Many of our government officials are committed to preserving human life and dignity. This oath of promises is not new to all of us, nor is it an up-to-date version of politicians' chosen word linguistics. It challenges us voters to discern more of its truth and sincerity. Moreover, a candidate who dedicates and moves according to what's morally accepted. Who fights for individual rights, equality, and peace and becomes triumphant? Remember, "Many of those who tried, but only a few stood up."

The underlying tone to this still hums for our faith in God. Our fate will be based on our chosen will. Indeed, even if we are unsure of what lies ahead or what the future holds, our only time is now. I still believe that life should not be wasted, and it could be more significant if we heightened our standards of morality and principles. Life is a gift that needs to be protected, preserved, restored, developed, and loved because God does it first and we should follow.

Our leaders chart our route. Having the proper leader means having individuals who reflect the principles of our country. In the upcoming election, the candidate for whom we should vote should favor orderly life. If a leader leads an ordered life, his or her government will manifest this. But why should we pick a leader with a well-ordered life?

A person that is molded with integrity will emanate leadership that abides the law. A leadership that is born from moral values that respect human life and a leadership that impedes social unrest. Having this embedded in a leader's soul will also materialize in his strategies, priorities, and governance as a figurehead.

That is why in this coming election, vote wisely. Think of a leader who lives an orderly life. Someone who’ll serve us as an inspiration and instill hope in the Filipino people. Someone who motivates us to use our skills to achieve goals that are in line with the strategic plan and, ultimately, the leader's vision. We have the power to make a difference. Make a stand!

Maka-totoo
by Sarah Grace C. Laud, PPCRV - Bacolod Volunteer

A famous quote says, "Be honest even if others are not, even if others will not, even if others cannot." He who walks honestly walks securely. " Proverbs 10:9 It is critical that our candidate embraces these values. Maka-totoo (to be true) in the sense that if you are an honest person, people will love you and support you because, in the first place, you are true to yourself and to the people that support you. In a chaotic world right now, we need a leader who is honest and true to his/her people. No human being is designed to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth; and even the best of men must settle for fragments, partial glimpses, and never the full fruition (William Osler).

Our candidates in this election must possess this value, which is honesty. Because if you are true, I think the other values will follow. You have the quality of always speaking the truth and being totally authentic and transparent in your words and actions. We don't need a leader who has a streak of dishonesty, who hides the truth from his/her people and never purposefully omits or misdirects people from the truth.

We are unique for a reason. Not only do you deny others the opportunity to know the real you, but there is also something you can do that others cannot. By not being in tune with that, it means the world is going to miss out on your contribution. All of us possess qualities that differentiate us from other human beings. These distinguishing features could be more or less highlighted in appearance, mindset, or capabilities, but they will always persist and determine the nature of our personality.
