Pride often keeps us focused on proving our point, defending ourselves, or waiting for the other person to make the first move. But forgiveness shifts our focus from winning an argument to protecting and restoring the relationship.

Forgiveness doesn't ignore the hurt, nor does it declare that what happened was acceptable. Rather, it is a conscious choice to extend grace, pursue reconciliation, and love the other person as Christ loves us.
