Gospel of the Day (Prophet)
[Mark 6:3-4] “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household."

Reflection: They could not accept Jesus preaching in the name of God. They have boxed in Jesus according to their perception of him, as he grew up in their midst.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, our very limited knowledge of you prevents us from relating with you as you are. Fill us with your love and help us worship you as our God. Amen.

[Matthew 15:32.36-37] And Jesus said "I feel compassion for the people, because they have have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry." He took the seven loaves and the fish; and the disciples gave them to the people. And they all ate and were satisfied.

Reflection: Christ was sensitive to the people’s’ hunger. So he fed them.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we hunger not only for food but for you most especially. Feed us. Amen.

Gospel of the day (Kingdom)
[Luke 21:29-31] "Behold the fig tree and all the trees; as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near.”

Reflection: As we experience these difficulties brought about by Covid, let us not forget that God remains with us. Let us continue to be patient. With God’s help we will recover.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we believe that you accompany us in the midst of this pandemic. Help us to remain faithful and not to lose hope. Amen.

Gospel of the day (Torn)
[Luke 21:5-6] And while some were talking about the temple, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and votive gifts, He said, "As for these things which you are looking at, the days will come in which there will not be left one stone upon another which will not be torn down."

Reflection: Everything that is man-made will eventually end.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, let us not be attached to material things. Rather help us to be attached to you alone. Amen.

Gospel of the day (Squandering)
[Luke 16:1.5.6] "There was a rich man who had a manager, and this was reported to him as squandering his possessions....And the manager summoned each one of his master's debtors, 'How much do you owe my master?' And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.'

Reflection: The manager lowered the debt to gain the debtor’s support once he is terminated.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us prepare for our future in heaven and not so much here on earth. Amen.

Gospel of the day (Hate)
[Luke 14:26] "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.”

Reflection: It’s a choice between Jesus, the Incarnate God and everything else.

Prayer: Jesus, our Lord and our God, let us feel your tremendous love for us in spite of our unworthiness. Inspire us to choose you above all creatures and follow your way of love. Amen.

Gospel of the day (Untie)
[Luke 13:10-11.13-15.17) ... But the synagogue official, said "There are six days, so come and not on the Sabbath day." But the Lord said, "You hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox from the stall and lead him away to water him?”

Reflection: The love of Jesus towards the woman is greater than the law of the Sabbath.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, let us learn from your example. Let divine love be the supreme principle for all our decisions and actions. Amen.

Gospel of the day (Love)
[Matthew 22:36-37] "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"
And He said to him, " 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'

Reflection: After hearing this from Jesus himself, the God who became man for our sakes, let us obey him and do it!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we are self-centered. We obey and love only ourselves. You alone can transform our hearts. Please help us and do not abandon us. Amen.

Gospel of the day (Cut)
[Luke 13:6-9] Jesus began this parable: "A man had a fig tree in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and did not find any. He said to the vineyard-keeper, 'Cut it down! He answered 'Let it alone, sir, until I dig and put in fertilizer; and if it bears, fine; but if not, cut it down.'"

Reflection: What about me? Do I deserve to be cultivated or be cut down?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I continue to live because of your Love and mercy. Forgive my failings and pride. In gratitude let me bear fruits of Service and Compassion. Amen.
