Online Bible Study - 9 April 2026, 6:00pm
Lesson 1: The Road to Emmaus – Recognizing the Risen Christ (PART 2)

Scripture: Luke 24:13–35
Introduction
After the resurrection of Jesus, many of His followers were confused, discouraged, and uncertain. The story of the Road to Emmaus reminds us that even when we do not recognize Him, the risen Christ is walking with us. This lesson teaches us how Jesus meets us in our sorrow, opens the Scriptures, and reveals Himself in deeper ways.

Historical Background
The Road to Emmaus account takes place on the very day of Jesus’ resurrection. Two disciples were walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus, a village about seven miles away. Jerusalem had just experienced the trauma of Jesus’ crucifixion and the confusion of reports that He had risen. In Jewish expectation, many hoped for a political Messiah, so the death of Jesus had shattered their hopes. Luke highlights how Jesus reorients their understanding through Scripture and fellowship.
