In reference to the earlier Public Advisory released by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tagum regarding individuals seen soliciting donations at the Tagum Overland Transport Integrated Terminal, our page administrators have since had the opportunity to receive communication from the individuals appearing in the circulating photos.
According to their statement, they clarified the following:
β’ They are not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tagum.β’ They are not priests of the Catholic Church, nor are they claiming or pretending to be priests of the Church.
In light of this clarification, the Diocese wishes to acknowledge their communication and to correct any possible misunderstanding that they were presenting themselves as priests of the Catholic Church.
Nevertheless, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tagum reiterates to the faithful and to the general public that the Diocese has not authorized any form of public solicitation in terminals, streets, or similar areas under the name of the Catholic Church.
We continue to encourage everyone to exercise prudence and discernment when approached for donations by individuals claiming religious affiliation. Official Church-related fundraising or charitable activities are always coordinated through parishes or formally announced by the Diocese.
The Diocese thanks everyone for their vigilance and for helping maintain transparency and integrity in matters concerning the Church.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
God bless.
