God never gives up on His love and purpose for our lives

Jacob has a dream while traveling to Haran. He sees a ladder (or stairway) reaching to heaven, with angels ascending and descending, and God standing above it. God reiterates the covenant promises made to Abraham, including the land and descendants. Jacob, awakened by the experience, names the place Bethel and makes a vow to God.
