OUR LADY OF THE PILLAR is the name given to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the context of the traditional belief that Mary, while living in Jerusalem, supernaturally appeared to the Apostle St. James the Greater in AD 40 while he was preaching in what is now Spain.

Those who adhere to this belief consider this appearance to be the only recorded instance of Mary exhibiting the mystical phenomenon of bilocation. Among Catholics, it is also considered the first Marian apparition, although it is unique in this regard because it is the only one to have occurred while Mary was still alive on earth.

February 16, 2015 The turn-over of parish priests around the Diocese of San Fernando de La Union. As we bid good bye to Fr. Froilan Ordoño, in behalf of our fellow grateful parishioners and kailans, we again would like to express our deepest, sincerest, and unending gratitude for the almost six years of your life you have shared and dedicated to the Aringay faithful. Who would be blind not to see and be grateful if you have the eyes of Jesus? You may not be a perfect priest, and I guess no one could ever be except for Jesus, yet we are blessed that at least you have tried to be the best parish priest you could ever be to us by bringing God to the people and bringing the people back to God in the way you know best, even when your ways may not have gained the appreciation or even the approval of some, for it is God whom you serve and no one else. We sincerely wish you all the best on your next assignment and rest assured, our love and prayers will always be with you

This Palm Sunday La Union Faithful, we have palm and coconut branches or "palaspas" to be blessed and brought home. Let those palaspas remind us that our love and loyalty to Christ and our personal commitments do not wither and fade away, like the enthusiasm of the fickle-minded crowd on that first Palm Sunday.
