Pentecost Sunday

Today we celebrate Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and filled them with courage, joy, and new life. From that moment on, they went out together to proclaim the Good News to all nations.

Just as the Holy Spirit united and guided the early Church, we too are called to walk together as one community — listening to one another, strengthening one another in faith, and bringing Christ’s love to the world.

May the Holy Spirit continue to renew our hearts, guide our journey, and send us forth on mission with faith and courage.

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.”

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) released the “Pastoral Statement on Peace in a Wounded World” during the Permanent Council meeting last May 20, 2026.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” (Jn 14:27)

As violence, war, and division continue to wound humanity and our common home, the Church calls on all the faithful to pray for peace, uphold the dignity of every human life, support those affected by conflict, and become instruments of reconciliation and hope.

Let us continue to pray for peace in the Middle East and throughout the world, especially for Overseas Filipino Workers and families suffering from the effects of war and economic hardship. May every home become a cradle of peace, compassion, and hope.

For many years, the original image of Maria Auxiliadora Delos Cristianos De Marawi stood inside the Cathedral of Maria Auxiliadora in Marawi City as a symbol of faith, hope, and protection for the Christian community of Marawi.

In May 2017, during the Marawi Siege, the cathedral was attacked and vandalized by the Maute group, ISIS-inspired militants. The original image was heavily destroyed — the head of Mary and the image of the Child Jesus were lost during the war. Though damaged, the image became a powerful reminder of the suffering, courage, and unwavering faith of the people of Marawi.

Today, the restored image now continues its mission of inspiring faith and unity among Filipinos. Through the Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) Philippines Caravan, the restored image is now here in Aparri at Parokia San Telmo Church.

Do not miss this chance to visit, reflect, and pray before this historic image that witnessed the pain of war yet continues to stand as a sign of hope and peace.

The caravan is only until today from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD

Today we remember the moment Jesus Christ ascended into heaven before His disciples (Acts 1:9–11). It wasn’t a goodbye—it was a mission launch.

The Ascension of Jesus Christ signifies the completion of His saving mission on earth and His return to the Father in glory, where He reigns with authority over all creation; it prepares the way for the coming of the Holy Spirit, shifts the disciples from watching the sky to embracing their mission of evangelization as told in Acts of the Apostles 1:11, and gives believers a lasting hope that where Christ has gone, they too are called to follow—reminding the Church that faith moves from contemplation into action with heaven as its promise.

From Marawi to Aparri: A Mission of Hope and Solidarity

As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, a beautiful mission of faith and hope has reached Aparri.

From Marawi to Aparri, the Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) Philippines Caravan is now in our parish, bringing with it a powerful testimony of solidarity, healing, and Christian unity. The caravan features an inspiring exhibit on the mission of the Church in Marawi, especially its continuing work in peacebuilding and interreligious dialogue after the 2017 Marawi Siege.

Displayed in the church is the restored image of Our Lady Mary Help of Christians, a moving symbol of hope, resilience, and faith amid trials. The caravan also aims to raise support for the construction of the Pro-Cathedral in Marawi, helping rebuild not only structures, but also communities rooted in peace and love.

During tomorrow’s Sunday Masses, a 3-minute appeal will be made after the Prayer after Communion to invite the faithful to support this mission. A second collection will also be conducted to help the cause of the Church in Marawi.

May the Ascended Lord continue to unite us as one Church — journeying together in faith, charity, and peace.

Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima

O Most Holy Virgin Mary,
Our Lady of Fatima,
you who appeared to the three shepherd children
bringing a message of prayer, repentance, and peace for the world,

We come before you with humble hearts,
seeking your loving intercession.

Teach us to pray with sincerity,
especially the Holy Rosary,
that through meditation on the life of your Son,
we may grow closer to Jesus each day.

Help us to offer our sacrifices,
our sufferings, and our daily struggles
for the conversion of sinners
and for peace in our families and in the world.

Mother most compassionate,
wrap us in your mantle of protection.
Guide us away from sin and lead us
to a life of holiness and obedience to God’s will.

Instill in us a spirit of penance,
a heart that forgives,
and a faith that remains steadfast
amid trials and uncertainties.

Our Lady of Fatima,
pray for us,
pray for our loved ones,
and pray for the whole world.

We entrust to you our intentions,
our needs, and our hopes,
confident that you will bring them to your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

This sacred gathering honors Aparri’s spiritual legacy under the patronage of Blessed Peter Gonzalez (San Telmo), the beloved Dominican priest and patron of sailors and seafarers, whose life of evangelization continues to inspire devotion among the faithful.

Through meditative song, candlelight, and silence in the spirit of Taizé Community, participants will enter a prayerful encounter with God, remembering the enduring faith that shapes our town’s identity.

In honor of the 346th Town Fiesta of Aparri, we joyfully recall its rich spiritual heritage.

‎Due to its historic role in maritime trade and fishing, the Dominican Order entrusted Aparri in 1680 to the patronage of Blessed Peter Gonzalez, widely known as San Telmo—a 13th-century Spanish Dominican priest renowned for evangelizing Spanish and Portuguese sailors across the seas. Through his intercession, generations of fishermen, boatmen, and seafarers have sought protection, guidance, and safe voyages.

‎As we celebrate our town's foundation, we give thanks for this enduring legacy of faith that continues to anchor our community in hope and devotion. May San Telmo watch over all who sail and all who depend on the bounty of the sea.

FAMILIES LIGHT THE TWELVE CONSECRATED POSTS AT 15TH CHURCH DEDICATION ANNIVERSARY AND SHRINE RECOGNITION

The parish community commemorated the 15th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Church and its elevation as the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary with a meaningful and symbolic celebration.

Families participated the lighting of the twelve consecrated posts, recalling the sacred anointing that set the church apart for God. The rite highlighted the Church’s foundation upon the Apostles and inspired the faithful to remain steadfast as living witnesses of Christ. The event stood as a testament to fifteen years of grace, unity, devotion, and prayer under the loving patronage of Our Lady.
