The Transfiguration of Christ Parish is one of the vibrant faith communities under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Diocese of Antipolo. Jesse Mercado, D.D., who was then the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese. Quezon Extension, Barangay San Roque, Antipolo City, the parish stands on an elevated site, accessible by a prominent flight of stairs leading to its beautiful church façade. A st
riking image of the Transfigured Christ welcomes the faithful at the entrance, symbolizing the community’s devotion to Christ’s glory and transformation. The first parish priest was Msgr. Pedro Canonero, followed by Rev. Paquito Gallego, and later Rev. Joel Victorino, who served from 2009 to 2015. He was succeeded by Rev. Arnel Vitor, who shepherded the community from 2015 to 2021. The parish has also been blessed by the service of several parochial vicars, including Rev. Jun Mejia, Rev. Gerardo Sanchez, and Rev. Jose Rock Berdos. At present, the parish continues its mission of faith and service under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Bonifacio Chavez Jr., who strives to strengthen the spiritual life of the community and foster active participation among parishioners. The territorial jurisdiction of the Transfiguration of Christ Parish covers a large part of Antipolo City, specifically Barangay Dalig and Barangay San Roque, as well as portions of Angono, Teresa, and Binangonan. However, for pastoral reasons and to better serve the growing Catholic population, a new parish—St. Joseph the Worker Parish—was canonically erected on April 27, 2014. This new community, entrusted to the Order of the Servants of Mary (O.S.M.), encompasses Barangay Mahabang Parang in Angono and nearby areas from Teresa and Binangonan. The Transfiguration of Christ Parish remains a beacon of faith in Antipolo, offering regular Eucharistic celebrations, sacraments, and devotions to nurture the spiritual life of the faithful. It also serves as a beloved venue for weddings and special celebrations, admired for its peaceful atmosphere, sacred beauty, and modern yet reverent design. As one of the 64 parishes of the Diocese of Antipolo, the parish continues to fulfill its mission of bringing people closer to God through worship, service, and community life.
