Stop Comparing yourself with the wrong examples

Do not keep your mind fixed on the defective example of professing Christians. You will, of course, see in their lives things that are not right. But if you keep looking at their faults, you will become like them. Instead of looking at the lives of your fellowmen, look to Jesus. There you will see no imperfection, but perfection, righteousness, goodness, mercy, and truth.

Take the Saviour as your example in all things. It is in looking to men instead of beholding Christ that you have made your great mistake.

You are not excusable for living an un-Christlike life. Christ came to this world, subject to His Father’s will, for one great purpose—to show men and women what God desires them to be and what, through His grace, they may be. He came to develop for man a character after the similitude of heaven.

Teach With Kindliness and Affection

It is the special work of fathers and mothers to teach their children with kindliness and affection. They are to show that as parents they are the ones to hold the lines, to govern, and not to be governed by their children. They are to teach that obedience is required of them.6Letter 104, 1897. {CG 33.1}

The restless spirit naturally inclines to mischief; the active mind, if left unoccupied with better things, will give heed to that which Satan may suggest. The children need ... to be instructed, to be guided in safe paths, to be kept from vice, to be won by kindness, and be confirmed in well-doing.7Letter 28, 1890. {CG 33.2}

Fathers and mothers, you have a solemn work to do. The eternal salvation of your children depends upon your course of action. How will you successfully educate your children? Not by scolding, for it will do no good. Talk to your children as if you had confidence in their intelligence. Deal with them kindly, tenderly, lovingly. Tell them what God would have them do. Tell them that God would have them educated and trained to be laborers together with Him. When you act your part, you can trust the Lord to act His part.8Manuscript 33, 1909. {CG 33.3}

David faced a giant that looked impossible to defeat.
Joseph endured seasons that made no sense.
Moses felt unqualified for the calling in front of him.
Peter failed Jesus when it mattered most.

Yet God still worked through each of them.

Not because they were fearless, perfect, or had everything figured out—but because God was shaping them through every battle, delay, weakness, and failure.

And maybe He is doing the same with us.

How do we trust God when the battle feels bigger than our strength?
How do we remain faithful when life doesn’t make sense?
How do we stand firm when the world around us is moving in a different direction?
And when we fail, how do we rise again and keep following Jesus?

The stories of these men are more than inspiring Bible accounts. They show us what genuine faith looks like when it is tested—when obedience is difficult, the future is uncertain, and giving up feels easier.

David teaches us courage.
Joseph teaches us faithfulness in waiting.
Moses reminds us that God can use us even when we feel inadequate.
Peter shows us that failure does not have to be the end of our story.

God can use the pressure you are facing today to build the faith you will need tomorrow.

If you want to go deeper into the lives of men in the Bible, discover what their journeys can teach us, and build a faith that remains strong through pressure, failure, waiting, and uncertainty, we would love to study God’s Word with you.

DM us “Bible Study” and let’s grow deeper in faith together.

Before asking, “What should our church do?”
Try asking, “What biblical principle should shape what we do?”

Pr. Marcos Borfim’s reminder is simple:
Our leadership should not just use Scripture. It should be shaped by it.

Save this for your next ministry or board meeting.

Behind every sermon preached, every prayer offered, every home visited, and every church faithfully shepherded is a pastor who continues to answer God’s call to serve.

This Pastor Appreciation Month, the Central Luzon Conference celebrates and gives thanks for our pastors who serve across our churches and communities. In seasons of joy and difficulty, in moments seen and unseen, you continue to lead God’s people, share His Word, care for His flock, and advance His mission.

Your ministry may not always be noticed, but your faithful service makes a lasting difference in the lives you touch.

To all our CLC pastors, thank you for answering the call, for serving with faith, and for continually pointing people to Jesus.

We appreciate you. We thank God for you.

It is Satan’s plan to weaken the faith of God’s people in the Testimonies. Satan knows how to make his attacks. He works upon minds to excite jealousy and dissatisfaction toward those at the head of the work. {CCh 93.5}

The gifts are next questioned; then, of course, they have but little weight, and instruction given through vision is disregarded. Next follows skepticism in regard to the vital points of our faith, the pillars of our position, then doubt as to the Holy Scriptures, and then the downward march to perdition. When the Testimonies, which were once believed, are doubted and given up, Satan knows the deceived ones will not stop at this; and he redoubles his efforts till he launches them into open rebellion, which becomes incurable and ends in destruction. By giving place to doubts and unbelief in regard to the work of God, and by cherishing feelings of distrust and cruel jealousies, they are preparing themselves for complete deception. They rise up with bitter feelings against the ones who dare to speak of their errors and reprove their sins. {CCh 94.1}

Leadership is not proven by how needed you are, but by how well others can continue the mission when you are not there. Great leaders build capacity, not dependency.
