You can be busy for God and still feel far from God.

You can attend every meeting, carry every responsibility, serve every Sabbath, organize programs, lead ministries, answer messages, help everyone, and still go home spiritually exhausted. Sometimes we become so focused on doing things for God that we slowly forget how to simply be with God.

Ministry can fill your schedule, but only His presence can fill your soul.

God never asked you to prove your faithfulness by constantly running until you have nothing left. He wants your service, yes—but He wants your heart first. Before the microphone, before the program, before the responsibility, before people need something from you, there must be a quiet place where it is just you and God.

Martha was busy serving, while Mary sat at Jesus’ feet. Jesus reminded Martha, “You are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.” — Luke 10:41–42

Maybe you don’t need another church responsibility right now. Maybe you need another hour with God. Maybe you don’t need to work harder—you need to pray deeper. Maybe the exhaustion you feel is reminding you that your soul was never designed to survive on ministry alone.

Serve God, but don’t lose God in the middle of serving Him.

Because the greatest thing you can bring into ministry isn’t your talent, your energy, your position, or your accomplishments.

It is a heart that has been with Jesus.

Are you ready for spiritual battle?

Every one of us needs to have a deep insight into the teachings of the Word of God. Our minds must be prepared to stand every test and to resist every temptation, whether from without or from within. We must know why we believe as we do, why we are on the Lord’s side. The truth must keep watch in our hearts, ready to sound an alarm and summon us to action against every foe. The powers of darkness will open their batteries upon us; and all who are indifferent and careless, who have set their affections on their earthly treasure, and who have not cared to understand God’s dealings with His people will be ready victims. No power but a knowledge of the truth as it is in Jesus will ever make us steadfast; but with this, one may chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight.

“Faith that is forced is no longer faith.” On Friday, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape delivered his United Nations General Debate speech while we watched from our seats on the floor of the UN Assembly Building. As the leader of a Christian nation, how did Marape explore the tensions in religious liberty? What did this moment mean for Adventism on the international political stage?

Heavenly Father, we lift Nepal before You during this time of grief and disaster. Comfort the families who lost loved ones, heal the injured, and protect communities still facing floods and landslides. Give strength to rescuers, wisdom to authorities, and shelter to those displaced from their homes.

Provide food, safety, and hope to every affected family. May Your presence bring peace amid fear, and may recovery come quickly to the people of Nepal. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

For many families, Adventist education requires real sacrifice—financially, practically, and personally.

Cindy Tutsch reflects on the sacrifices her own parents made and why she believes a Christ-centered education can shape far more than a student’s academic future.

Drawing from the story of Elisha and the lost axhead, she challenges parents, educators, churches, and supporters to see Christian education as an investment in faith, character, and service.

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

Everyone wants to study leadership, but not enough people study servanthood.

Especially for those who feel called to ministry, there is often a desire to learn how to lead, influence, communicate, and grow. While these things are important, Jesus never called us to chase titles, platforms, positions, or recognition.

He called us to serve.

The foundation of ministry is not leadership.
The foundation of ministry is love expressed through service.

Jesus said, "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve."
The King of Kings chose the posture of a servant.

He did not measure greatness by how many people followed Him, but by how faithfully He loved and served them.

That is where many people miss the heart of leadership.

If your leadership makes you feel important, you have missed the heart of Jesus.
But if your leadership makes others feel loved, valued, and cared for, you are walking in His footsteps.

The Church does not need more leaders who simply know how to be in charge. Nor does it only need servants who avoid responsibility. We need servant leaders.

People who point the way forward while carrying the weight with others.

Because leadership without servanthood becomes ambition.

It becomes more about building a name than building God's Kingdom. And servanthood without leadership can avoid responsibility.

True servant leadership requires both humility and courage.

Jesus modeled both.

He carried authority.
He taught with authority.
He led with authority.

Yet He also knelt and washed the feet of His disciples.

The One who held all authority in heaven and earth willingly took up a towel and served.

Jesus carried authority and a towel.
That's the picture of true ministry.

Not power without humility.
Not service without responsibility.
But leadership and servanthood working together.

So if God has called you to ministry, study leadership.

Learn how to communicate.
Learn how to disciple.
Learn how to steward responsibility well.

But don't stop there.

Study servanthood.
Study humility.
Study compassion.
Study sacrifice.
Study the heart of Jesus.

Because ministry is not ultimately about learning how to influence people.
It's about learning how to love people.

Don't measure your calling by how many people follow you.
Measure it by how faithfully you serve the people God has placed before you.

The Church needs servant leaders.

Men and women who carry both authority and a towel.
Who lead without seeking recognition.
Who serve without needing applause.
Who make people feel loved because they have first experienced the love of Christ.

So don't just ask God to make you a leader.
Ask Him to make you a servant.

Because that is the way of Jesus.

And servant leadership will always be the kind of leadership the Church needs most.
