Proverbs 16:1-4 teaches that humans make plans, but God directs the final outcome and judges true motives.

1: To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.Verse

2: All a person's ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.Verse

3: Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.Verse

4: The Lord works out everything to its proper end — even the wicked for a day of disaster. Key Meanings Human planning: People naturally make goals and decisions on their own.

Divine control: God holds ultimate authority over what actually happens and what is spoken
Self-deception: People think their own actions are right, but God looks deeper at hidden intent.Trust: Giving your work to God brings stability to your goals. [

To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue. All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the LORD. Proverbs 14:17 states:
"A quick-tempered person does foolish things, and the one who devises evil schemes is hated" (ESV: "A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a man of evil devices is hated")

Meaning and BreakdownThe Quick-Tempered: People who react with fast, hot anger often lack self-control. They make rash choices they later regret because anger clouds good judgment.

The Evil Schemer: People who quietly plot malice, manipulation, or revenge break trust with others. Their calculated dishonesty makes them despised by society.

The Contrast: This verse warns against both sudden, emotional outbursts and cold, calculated malice—showing that both destroy relationships and character.

A quick-tempered person does foolish things, and the one who devises evil schemes is hated.

John 10:10 vs. John 10:11John 10:10:
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."The Thief's Mission: Destruction, theft, and death. This represents Satan, false teachers, or anything that draws people away from God.Jesus' Mission: Abundant, eternal life. Jesus offers ultimate fulfillment and spiritual restoration.John 10:11: "I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."The Shepherd's Identity: Jesus declares Himself the Good Shepherd (the fourth of His famous "I am" statements in John). The Shepherd's Action: Ultimate sacrifice. Unlike a hired hand who runs from danger, Jesus willingly dies to protect and save His flock.Key ThemesContrast of Intent: Verse 10 shows what Jesus saves us from (the thief's destruction), while verse 11 shows how He does it (by laying down His own life).Action and Protection: Verse 10 promises life in "all its fullness," and verse 11 proves the depth of that promise through the Shepherd's sacrifice.Would you like to explore the context of the hired hand in verses 12–13, or look at the other "I am" statements in the Gospel of John?

The earth and everything it contains are the Lord's.
The world and all who live in it are his.
He laid its foundation on the seas
and set it firmly on the rivers.
Who may go up the Lord's mountain?
Who may stand in his holy place?
⌞The one who⌟ has clean hands and a pure heart
and does not long for what is false
or lie when he is under oath.
⌞This person⌟ will receive a blessing from the Lord
and righteousness from God, his savior.
This is the person who seeks him,
who searches for the face of the God of Jacob. Selah

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." — 1 John 5:14 (NIV)

📍 Confidence:
Believers can approach God without fear or hesitation.
📍 His Will:
Prayer is aligned with what God desires and knows is best.
📍 Assurance:
God always listens to the prayers of His people.

Here is a short devotional and prayer based on 1 John 5:14 to start your day.Today's

Devotional: Hearing and Heard We often treat prayer like a wish list, hoping God will grant our requests exactly how and when we want them. But this verse reminds us that true prayer is about alignment, not control. When we pray "according to His will," we are aligning our hearts with His perfect plans. This gives us immense confidence. You don't have to worry about saying the perfect words or wondering if God is paying attention. If it matters to you and aligns with His goodness, He hears you. You can rest today knowing that the Creator of the universe is listening to your heart.

Today's Prayer

"Heavenly Father, thank You for the open invitation to come to You with confidence. Today, I surrender my own plans and desires to Yours. Teach me to pray according to Your will, and give me peace knowing that You hear every word and every sigh. Guide my steps today. Amen."

Psalm 20:1-9
[1]May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.

[2]May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.

[3]May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.

[4]May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.

[5]May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.

[6]Now this I know:
The Lord gives victory to his anointed.
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary
with the victorious power of his right hand.

[7]Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

[8]They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.

[9]Lord, give victory to the king!
Answer us when we call!
