Growth in the Christian life does not happen overnight. And it does not look the same for everyone.

In John 15, Jesus presents Himself as the true vine and His followers as the branches. A branch bears fruit not through its own effort, but by remaining connected to its source of life.

Growth, however, does not always come quietly. There are seasons when God prunes, corrects, and redirects us. These moments may be difficult, but they are part of His work in shaping our lives and strengthening our faith.

The question, then, how is your walk with Christ? Are you still abiding in Him, or have you been trying to do things on your own?

God knows what He is doing in your life.

Sometimes, abiding in Christ means allowing Him to prune the parts of us that need to change. It may hurt. It may not make sense right away. But the pruning is not without purpose.

A branch cannot bear fruit on its own. It has to remain connected to the vine. In the same way, our growth does not come from trying harder on our own. It comes from staying close to Jesus, listening to Him, allowing Him to correct us, and trusting what He is doing.

He did not choose and appoint us just to exist. He called us to bear fruit, and fruit that will last.

So when God is pruning something in your life, don’t rush to resist it. Pause. Pray. Be sensitive to what He may be teaching you.

What does it mean to remain in Christ?

To remain is to continue in what we have received, to hold fast to the Gospel, to follow what God says, and to walk in love with the body of Christ. The Christian life does not end when we receive salvation. We are called to remain, to persevere, and to keep walking with Christ until the end.

And this is where our confidence rests. Not in our ability to keep ourselves, but in the faithfulness of God. What He has begun, He is able to sustain.

If the Father is with us, the Son has redeemed us, and the Holy Spirit lives in us, then what are we afraid of?

A branch never worries about producing fruit. Its only responsibility is to remain in the vine.

The same is true of our walk with Christ. Fruit is never the result of striving. It is the evidence of a life that stays connected to its source.

That is why abiding matters. The more we remain in His Word, the more His Word remains in us. It exposes what needs to be surrendered, removes what hinders our growth, and shapes us into the people He is calling us to be. Even His pruning is an act of love, because the Father never cuts without purpose.

We do not obey to earn His acceptance. We obey because we already belong to Him. And the more we abide in His love, the more our lives begin to bear the kind of fruit that brings glory back to the true Vine.

You are called to live with the kind of courage that only comes from knowing God is with you. Every place you step into is another opportunity to reflect His love, speak His truth, and point people back to Him.

Don't let fear decide where your obedience ends. Someone is waiting for the hope you already carry. Go and make disciples!

We often ask God to make us bold, but maybe that's not even where we should start.

A life that walks closely with God does not have to manufacture boldness because it naturally grows from a heart that is right before Him. Even when we stumble, His invitation remains the same. Come back. Let Him restore what sin has broken. Let Him redirect what has gone astray.

So if you're carrying something heavy today, stay in the counsel of the Lord. Keep your heart right before Him. The boldness you're asking for might just come from walking with Him one step at a time.

You don't become recognizable as God's child just because you say you are. It shows in the way you treat people, the grace you extend, and the love you choose to give.

After all, Christ loved us first, and that's the kind of love we're called to carry.
