During this Holy Week, we contemplate the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. In asking "were you there?", the African American spiritual "Were You There" (United Methodist Hymnal no. 288) invites us to consider how we are present in moments of suffering. The song calls us to remember not only Jesus' death, but also that those who suffer need not do so alone.

💭 How does the experience of Holy Week draw you closer in connection with others?

Our faith shapes how we see the world and how we see one another.

This prayer from the United Methodist Book of Worship (no. 519) invites us to release harsh judgments, to recognize the dignity of others, and to live more fully into our shared humanity.

May it guide our hearts today.
