Developing Good Habits

“I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.” — Psalm 119:101

Every day, we are becoming something through the habits we practice. Little choices may seem small today, but repeated over time, they shape our character, our future, and even our relationship with God.

The world encourages habits that satisfy self—constant entertainment, pride, compromise, and careless living. But God calls His children to a different path. As the end of time approaches, we are invited not to follow the crowd, but to follow His Word faithfully.

Good habits do not happen accidentally. Prayer, Bible reading, kindness, honesty, purity, and obedience must be practiced daily. At first, doing what is right may feel difficult, but every act of obedience strengthens the spiritual life. Just as exercise strengthens the body, spiritual discipline strengthens the soul.

The devotional reminds us that many young people are forming habits now that will guide the rest of their lives. The friends we choose, the things we watch, the words we speak, and the thoughts we entertain all leave an imprint on us. Habits either bring us closer to Christ or slowly pull us away from Him.

God does not want us to be “half Christian and half worldly.” He desires wholehearted followers whose minds are trained to love purity and righteousness. When Christ becomes the center of our lives, our habits begin to change. We start desiring what is good, holy, and pleasing to Him.

And the beautiful promise is this: those who hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled. God never asks us to live a holy life without giving us the strength to do it.

Today, ask yourself:

What habits are helping me grow spiritually?
What habits are weakening my walk with God?
What small change can I begin today for Christ?

A godly life is built one faithful habit at a time.

Prayer:
Lord, help me develop habits that honor You. Teach me to love what is pure and good. Give me strength to resist evil and discipline my mind to focus on spiritual things. May my life shine as a light to others and bring glory to Your name. Amen.

GRACE FOR GOMERS

The story of Hosea is one of the most painful and beautiful stories in the Bible.

God asked Hosea to love Gomer — a woman who would repeatedly fail him, hurt him, and wander away. Yet every time she drifted, Hosea pursued her again.

And honestly… that story is our story.
Because many times, we are more like Gomer than Hosea.

God blesses us —
yet we forget Him.

God answers prayers —
yet we slowly drift again.

God rescues us from one crisis —
yet we return to the same sins, the same coldness, the same distractions.

Still, God keeps whispering:
“Come home.”

Not because sin is acceptable —
but because grace is available.

That is the shocking beauty of the God:
God keeps loving people who keep failing.

But it should not stop there,
Because grace was never meant to only be received. It was meant to be reflected.

The same mercy God extends to us…
He asks us to extend to others.

And that becomes difficult when people hurt us repeatedly.

Can we still forgive someone who keeps failing?
That is where Hosea becomes more than a story — it becomes a challenge.

Because forgiven people are called to become forgiving people.

Sometimes we pray:
“Lord, please be patient with me.”
But are we patient with others?

We ask God for another chance —
while refusing to give others one.

We want mercy for our failures —
but justice for theirs.

Yet every morning God gives us what we ourselves struggle to give: GRACE

Imagine if God treated us the way we sometimes treat people.
What if after your repeated failures, God finally said: That’s it. I’m tired of forgiving you.”

None of us would survive spiritually.

But grace means refusing to stop seeing a person as redeemable. It means loving while correcting.

Forgiving while healing.
Hoping while praying.

The world teaches:
“Cut people off quickly.”

But Jesus teaches:
“Love the way I loved you.”

And perhaps the greatest evidence that we truly understand God’s grace… is when we begin giving it to others.

These photos were taken way back in 2015…
11 years later, so much has changed since then. 🤍

Years may have passed, faces may have changed, but the memories made in this church remain precious.
A place where prayers were whispered, hearts were healed, and faith continued to grow. 🙏

From simple walls and wooden benches grew countless prayers, testimonies, baptisms, and changed lives.
Looking back at these memories reminds us that the church was never just a building, it was always the people, the faith, and God’s presence within us.

The beauty of the church was never in the structure, but in the hearts united in worship.

Grateful for every soul, every service, every prayer, and every memory made here.
