Brother Jhon Reyben Cerillo of Echague 1st Ward recently received his mission call to serve in the Philippines Cebu East Mission starting in June 2026.

"Mission or college? I know that many people my age who are members of the Church often think about this choice, but for me, it is not a question."

"Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, and I see these two years as my way of giving back for the sacrifices He made. While I was preparing to serve a mission, I faced many temptations. There were invitations to break the Word of Wisdom. But as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I know how to choose what is right and what will benefit me."

"It never truly crossed my mind to choose between college and a mission. Since I was baptized on October 27, 2017, I have been inspired by the missionaries who came to our home. Even at a young age, I already had the desire to serve. Although I was also attracted to many opportunities in college, I held on to what is written in Doctrine and Covenants 4:3: β€œTherefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work.” This means that if you have the desire to serve God, He is already calling you. You do not need to wait for another signβ€”your desire is enough to begin serving Him."

"I invite those who have just graduated from K–12 to pray and choose the path that brings them true happiness. I know that these 24 months will be the best 24 months of my life. I also know that my service is not only for me but also for my family. Because of this, more blessings will come into their lives. I am grateful to have supportive parents, and I am truly thankful to be a member of the Church. It is here that I have found true happiness. I know that my decision to serve a mission will make Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ happy."

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced adjustments to the Sunday class meeting schedule.

β€œWe are confident that members will be blessed by these changes,” the First Presidency wrote in a letter released Monday, March 30, 2026.

For the first time since the 2019 adjustment to a two-hour block, Sundays will look different. Now, instead of alternating classes on Sundays, members will meet for all their meetings during the second hour.

The new schedule will take effect the first week of September.

"At ward conference, stake leaders instruct, support, and minister to ward leaders and members. Ward members sustain general and local leaders (General Handbook 29.2.3 Ward Conference)."

Brother Nyl Ryann Manaligod of Alicia 1st Ward recently received his mission call to serve in the Philippines Davao Mission starting in April 2026.

"As a kid born and raised in the Church, I always wanted to go on a mission. When the teacher or speaker asks who wants to be a missionary someday, I am one of the kids who raises my hand because I heard a lot of fun missionary experience stories from returned missionaries in our ward and also from family and friends. At that time, I didn’t truly understand the true purpose of being a missionary."

"But as I grew older, graduating from Primary, being a youth, and now a young single adult. I felt the joy of getting baptized in the true Church, the joy of receiving my priesthood, and the fun in church activities like youth camp, youth conferences, devotionals, firesides, and For the Strength of Youth, which really helped me always honor my covenants and molded me into the person I am today, and helped me build my desire to go on a mission to also share the joy that I felt."

"As my journey went on, I realized that we are all literally sons and daughters of Heavenly Father, and that we all deserve to feel the joy and love of our Creator, and also that serving a mission isn’t just about fun experiences and meeting people, but rather seeking the souls of every child of Heavenly Father and helping them move closer to the Lord."

"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work in the Lord’s vineyard and be the way and the light for those souls who have never heard the words of the Lord, and help them have the Savior in their lives."

In a conference held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, the Echague 1st Ward sustained a new bishopric. Brother Dante S. Arenas was sustained as Bishop, with Brother Arnold G. Bassig as First Counselor and Brother Renato S. Calimag as Second Counselor.

Bishop Arenas is married to Sister Marlyn B. Arenas. They were sealed in the Urdaneta Philippines Temple on October 31, 2024. The Arenas family currently resides in Echague, Isabela, together with their three children. Bishop Arenas previously served as Elders Quorum President in the ward and is presently employed as a farmer.

As instructed in the General Handbook 7.1, "The bishop holds the priesthood keys to lead the work of the Church in the ward. He and his counselors form a bishopric. They receive guidance from the stake presidency. They care for ward members with love, helping them become true followers of Jesus Christ."

Sister Rihanna Dane Dela Cruz of Paddad Ward recently received her mission call to serve in the Philippines Dumaguete Mission starting in March 2026.

"Taking an action in the phrase, "I want to become a missionary and go where He wants me to go," is not easy. I have a lot of "what ifs" in my mind about being capable of going and serving a mission while I'm preparing. But everything changed when I started doing missionary work with the missionaries. I saw and realized the purpose of being a missionary. Knowing it helped me to understand what it truly means to go on a mission and be a missionary. Not all people may open their doors every time you knock. Some people will persecute you about your beliefs and practices. Some will say bad things about what you believe, and there will be a lot of rejection that will come when you serve. But none of these scenarios and situations will ever beat the joy I felt every time I saw the missionaries being happy in helping others to come unto Christ. It only strengthened my faith and desire to become His representative wherever He wants me to serve. I'm grateful to be His representative for the next 18 months. In this great work, I'll do my purpose as a missionary with all my heart, might, mind, and strength."

"The Gospel of Jesus Christ helps me to have this joy beyond measure, and all of God's children deserve to feel it too. His words written in the scriptures are all true. I testify that the scriptures are filled with words that healeth the wounded souls and give wisdom to anyone who would diligently seek to know the truth."

"I know that there is no greater and more important work than missionary work that blesses the lives of Heavenly Father's children. I testify that the greatest happiness in life is obtained by being obedient to God's commandments, and it will always lead to the right path."
