| Sanctuary Maintenance

Last Monday, another maintenance dive was conducted at the ๐—ฆ๐˜. ๐—๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ต ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†--this time, to clean the heavy barnacles off our second floater.

The team was led by our very own ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ. ๐—™๐—ฟ. ๐— ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฝ๐—ต๐˜† ๐—ฃ. ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜€, assisted by our guest diver from Cebu City, ๐— ๐—ฟ. ZkLouie Tapayan , and ๐— ๐˜€. Althea Labrador.

It was not an easy dive. They faced challenging sea conditions with strong underwater and surface currents. Yet, despite the rough waters, it was a success!

The removal of barnacles attached to the floaters sinkers was led by our very own ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ. ๐—™๐—ฟ. ๐— ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฝ๐—ต๐˜† ๐—ฃ. ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜€, together with Mr. Colin Cavanaugh and Ms. Althea Labrador.

Barnacles naturally attach themselves to the lines and add extra weight over time. If left uncleaned, this heavy buildup can drag the lines down and cause our important floater markers to sink! Regular removal of these barnacles is a crucial part of our marine sanctuary maintenance activities to keep our markers visible, floating, and functioning properly.

A huge thank you to Fr. Murphy and our volunteers for giving their time to help maintain our marine sanctuary.
