HOMILY | Friday of the 4th Week of Easter
Gospel: John 14:1–6
In the Gospel, Jesus speaks words that are simple, but very powerful: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Have faith in God; have faith also in me.”
Honestly, this is exactly what many of us need today. Life can be heavy—financial problems, family concerns, health issues, and so many uncertainties about the future. And often, we carry these quietly.
So Jesus is not just speaking to His disciples before. He is speaking to us—right here, right now.
Let me share three simple inspirations for our life today.
First—In a world full of anxiety, Jesus invites us to trust.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled…”
Nice to hear—but not always easy to live. Because our world trains us to worry. We overthink. We try to control everything.
But Jesus is telling us: trust me.
Sometimes we live as if everything depends on us—our plans, our effort, our control. But faith reminds us of something freeing:
We are not God—and that is actually good news.
We don’t have to carry everything. God sees the bigger picture. He is already working, even when we don’t understand what’s happening.
As St. Padre Pio said: “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.” So when you feel overwhelmed, just pause and say:
“Lord, I trust You.”
Second—In a world that feels temporary, Jesus promises a lasting home.
“In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places…”
One reason we worry so much is because we are afraid to lose—people we love, stability, even life itself.
But Jesus reminds us: this world is not our final home.
We work hard, we build dreams, we make plans—but in the end, everything here passes.
And yet Jesus says: “I go to prepare a place for you.”
Not just any place—but a place for you. Personal. Prepared. Waiting.
That means no matter what we lose here, something better is waiting for us there.
So even in moments of grief, we can quietly hold on to this truth: This is not the end.
Third—In a world of confusion, Jesus shows us the way.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
Today, there are so many voices telling us what to do, what to believe, how to live. It can get confusing.
But Jesus doesn’t just give instructions—He gives Himself.
“I am the way.” — Walk with me.
“I am the truth.” — Listen to me.
“I am the life.” — Stay with me.
Christian life is not just about rules. It is about a relationship.
As Pope Benedict XVI said: “Being Christian… is an encounter with a Person.”
If we stay close to Jesus, we may not have all the answers—but we will not be lost.

My dear brothers and sisters,
Jesus offers us three simple gifts:
* Trust when life feels heavy
* Hope when things seem temporary or uncertain
* Direction when we feel confused
So whatever you are carrying right now—bring it to the Lord.
And listen again to His gentle voice: “Do not let your hearts be troubled.”
Because when we are with Jesus, we are never alone, we are never lost, and we are always on the way home.
