Thanksgiving and Tribute Program: Part 2 & 3

Following the Misa Cantada was the Thanksgiving and Tribute Program honoring the Rt. Rev. Jonash Arazo Joyohoy in his first Eucharistic celebration with the IFI community of IFI Parish of Alcantara, Cebu as a bishop.

The gathering truly resembled a joyful reunion, where members of the local government and the church community came together with one shared message - solidarity and support for a beloved son who has devoted his life to shepherding God’s people. More than a calling, his journey reflects a life of sacrifice, service, and faithful guidance to his flock.

The event was filled with meaningful and heartfelt messages that echoed the pride, gratitude, and admiration of the people who have journeyed with Bishop Joyohoy from his childhood years to this significant chapter of his life. The giving of symbolic gifts also added value to how thoughtfulness are expressed towards the new Bp.

Touching testimonials were shared by family members, relatives, friends, high school batchmates, representatives of the local government unit, and key leaders of the IFI community from the parish to the diocesan level. Each message reflected not only admiration for Bishop Joyohoy’s achievements, but also deep appreciation for his unwavering commitment to faith and service.

In celebration of the Feast of Pentecost Sunday, the congregation of the IFI Parish of Alcantara, Cebu held a solemn Misa Cantada in the morning, with the Rt. Rev. Jonash Arazo Joyohoy as the main celebrant and Rev. Fr. Ariel Pacinio as the co-celebrant.

The gathering became a meaningful testament to the fruitful mission reflected in the life and ministry of our beloved Bishop Jonash Joyohoy, who joyfully returned to his hometown to celebrate the Holy Eucharist with his family, relatives, friends, and fellow Alcantarahanons.

The warm and heartfelt reception from the faithful truly manifested the spirit of Christian unity and love. In his inspiring homily, Bishop Joyohoy reminded the congregation that participation in the ministry of the Church is a calling shared by all the baptized. Just as the disciples were commissioned through the power of the Holy Spirit, so too are we called to continue Christ’s mission in our communities through faith, service, and compassion.

Indeed, the celebration was not only a homecoming for a son of Alcantara, but also a renewal of faith and commitment among the faithful of IFI Alcantara during this blessed season of Pentecost.

A beautiful moment captured during our Sunday School Culmination, where smiles, faith, and gratitude come together as one. Their joy reflects the love and guidance they have gained throughout their journey in learning God’s word. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Wopic Sector for generously providing the budget and sponsoring the school supplies. Our sincere appreciation also goes to the dedicated lecturers who guided and nurtured the students with patience and care. Truly, this day is a celebration of faith, community, and the bright future of these young hearts.
