👶 Every child baptized in our parish receives not only the gift of faith, but also a seedling to nurture and grow.🍃

Inspired by the environmental advocacy of Pope Francis, we give fruit tree seedlings—avocado, santol, guava, guyabano, pomelo, kaimito, macopa, and more—to the parents of our newly baptized children.

As the child grows in life and faith, may the tree grow alongside them as a living reminder that caring for God's creation is part of loving our children and securing their future.

This initiative is made possible through the collections from our Barangay Masses. 🌳💚

If you would like to support or be part of this advocacy, please contact your local Barangay Pastoral Coordinator or the Parish Office. Together, we can help nurture both our children and our common home.

🌹✨ CULMINATION OF MAMA MARY'S MONTH 2026 ✨🌹

With hearts overflowing with gratitude and joy, we celebrate the successful Culmination of Mama Mary’s Month. What a beautiful day of faith, prayer, unity, and devotion as our parish family gathered to honor our Blessed Mother through the Living Rosary, Harana, Holy Mass, Coronation, Procession, and Agape.

Our sincere thanks to all ministries, organizations, volunteers, sponsors, and parishioners who generously shared their time, talent, and effort in making this celebration meaningful and memorable. Your dedication and love for Mama Mary were truly evident in every prayer offered, every flower prepared, every song sung, and every act of service rendered.

As we conclude this Marian month, may we continue to carry in our hearts the virtues of our Blessed Mother—her humility, obedience, faith, and unwavering trust in God. May Mama Mary continue to guide our families, protect our community, and lead us always closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

Thank you, Mama Mary, for your motherly love, intercession, and constant presence in our lives. Though the month of May comes to an end, our devotion to you remains forever.

Ave Maria! 🌹💙🙏

REVOLUTIONARY LOVE

**Just as the Trinitarian doctrine once seemed blasphemous to the religious elite in Israel, BEC is meant to disrupt the distorted and dehumanizing ways of religion and society.**

Mga kapatid, happy Trinity Sunday! Today, we celebrate the most fundamental doctrine of our faith: One God in Three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Equal in Divinity, Undivided Unity. A dogma embraced by 2 billion Christians. But during the time of Jesus, this meant big trouble! Given the rigid monotheistic worldview of Judaism, the idea of Trinity was entirely blasphemous to the religious elite. But the Lord came to "MAKE ALL THINGS NEW." (Rev.21:5)

BEC (Basic Ecclesial Community) or SISA (Simbaan Sangakaarrubaan) is likewise supposed to be a RADICAL TRANSFORMATION, that challenges the religious status quo and our individualistic way of life today. It may seem to be "blasphemous" to the closed-minded.

But let's be clear about this.
👉 BEC cannot succeed without challenging the old order of society and Church life. ‼️
👉Jesus said, "No one puts new wine into old wineskins, otherwise the wineskins burst..." (Mt 9:17)

God is not an isolated Being; God is a community of perfect sharing and infinitely overflowing love—equal in dignity, united in diversity. We are called TO MIRROR 🪞 THAT LOVE by living a radically NEW way of community life. LOVE THY NEIGHBOR!

BEC is our way of bringing the life of the Trinity into our daily lives as a Church, a neighborhood, and as a Society. Hirap ng isa, hirap ng lahat. Tagumpay ng isa, tagumpay ng lahat. Walang mataas o mababa. Walang lamangan, inggitan o kanya-kanya attitude. May taus-pusong malasakit at pagbibigayan.

📌The Painful Realities: Are We "Santong Kabayo" Christians?

⭐⭐⭐A BEC that dehumanizes is not an authentic BEC.
⭐⭐⭐A SISA that is hesitant to abandon but even promotes the unhealthy ways of being church is not true SISA at all.

Let’s have a look at some of our traditional, sometimes humorous, but painfully distorted or dehumanizing habits.

🔷"Banal na a*o, santong kabayo"
Skin-deep Catholicism. Lack of witnessing. Magaling tayo sa debosyon, prusisyon, estasyon, adorasyon, dekorasyon, organisasyon, donasyon. Subalit minsan judgmental tayo sa kapwa, mabagsik, maramot, walang awa, switik at plastik pa.✌️ Tandaan: Ang RELIHIYON AY RELASYON. Dito po kailangan ang spiritual CONVERSION natin. For God is a "subsistent Relationship."

🔷"Hero abroad, Villain at home": We go to parish and diocesan events, join mandated organizations, and call someone from across the parish "BROTHER" or "SISTER." But when we go home, we don’t even talk to our next-door neighbor, and we’ve been ignoring our very own sister for five years! Maka-Dios ba yun?

🔷Special Treatment for the Rich: When a wealthy benefactor arrives at the parish, we roll out the red carpet. And the emcee goes, “We acknowledge the arrival of Engr./Dr./Congressman So-and-So.” If our parish is truly Trinitarian, recognizing EQUALITY IN DIGNITY, the emcee should also acknowledge “the arrival of Farmer Juan, Yaya Emma, Waiter Eddie, and Driver Joel.” At eto pa: A wealthy "mother-mother's" birthday draws a crowd of eager well-wishers, yet a poor man’s birthday passes unnoticed—kahit sa GC man lang.😭 Di po ba pantay-pantay dapat sa BEC?

🔷The "KBL" Christian: We all know them. They are only present during *Kasal, Binyag, at Libing*. The rest of the year? Missing in action. There is supposed to be only "one lost sheep." (Lk.15:4-7) But today, baliktad na: there are 99 missing.

🔷The "Discount" Cult: We say we support our fellow church members, but whenever we buy from them, we often demand, "Sis, discount naman diyan!" (O "pautang naman!") Paano aasenso yung kapatid natin? Is that how Christian concern looks like? Ask not what others can do for you. Ask what you can do for them.

🔷The "Ponciano" Burden: After a barangay mass, everyone stays for the "mukbang." But only the host family shoulders everything. "Ranod balon" style.

🔷The culture of Silence and Fear: We don't want to get involved... Until something bad happens to our loved ones. We blindly follow the majority. We allow ourselves to be manipulated by tactics like ayuda. Kawawa ang bayan.

📌The Call to Renewal: *Baro a Kananakem*

Trinity Sunday and BEC call us to a radical conversion—a REVOLUTION of mind and heart. In Ilokano, we call this "baro a kananakem"—a fresh, transformed way of thinking and relating. A NEW CIVILIZATION patterned after the ways of Christ.

BEC subdivides the massive parish into small, manageable clusters of 10 to 15 families. Why? So we can actually know each other and care for each other! This is where GENUINE CONCERN, GREATER PARTICIPATION, and REAL LISTENING happen. We don't just "GIVE SUPPORT." Instead we LIVE IN SOLIDARITY with our neighbors.

Think of the "WALIS TINGTING" (broomstick). If you take a single "tingting", it is weak and fragile—it breaks with the slightest bend. That is a Christian who thinks she can survive alone, and chooses to separate herself from the community. Too much privacy. Pero di ba, "UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL." "NO MAN IS AN ISLAND." "IN UNION THERE IS STRENGTH." Kayang kaya kung samasama. When those "tingtings" are bound tightly together, they become unbreakable.

📌 The Three Aspects of a True BEC

How do we know if our BEC is mirroring the Holy Trinity? A true community helps and takes care of each other, growing together in FAITH AND CHARITY through three concrete aspects:

1. PRIESTLY. **Regular Gathering to Pray and Worship:** We don't just pray inside the big parish church; we pray in our backyards, our living rooms, our offices, and our streets.
2. PROPHETIC. **Studying and Proclaiming God’s Word and Church Teachings:** We open the Bible together. We let the Word of God guide our daily neighborhood life.
3. SERVANT. **Working and Serving the Brethren in Need:** This is where we become *tunay na kapatid*. "Rigat ti maysa, rigat ti amin." (The suffering of one is the suffering of all). If a neighbor is grieving, the community weeps with them.

📌Empowerment, Self-Reliance, and Volunteerism

BEC is intentionally the empowerment of the laity—all the baptized. It proves that you don't need a title, wealth, or a religious habit to serve God. EVERY SINGLE MEMBER HAS A ROLE, a talent, and a ministry to offer. WE LEARN BY DOING.

Mga kapatid, let us move away from the "waiting culture." DON'T WAIT for the "utos ng pari" (orders from the priest) or a memo from the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC). Don't wait for the parish catechist to teach in your barangay. TAKE THE INITIATIVE no matter how simple. If you see a neighbor starving, you don't need a decree from the Vatican to feed them! Cultivate the spirit of VOLUNTEERISM. Share your time, your talent, and your treasure freely.

However, let us remember: while we take initiative in our small communities, we must never become isolated independent republics. We must always remain **united IN HARMONY WITH THE ENTIRE PARISH and the diocese**, just as the Holy Spirit is always in harmony with the Father and the Son.

The Holy Cross Parish Catechist family recently gathered for a profound day of spiritual formation! We were truly blessed to be guided by our inspiring speakers from the Diocese of Urdaneta Catechetical Ministry.

A heartfelt thank you to Sr. Wilma Gumat, along with her company, Sr. Marey Costes, Sr. Anneli Manzano, and Sr. Alma Begonia, for sharing their wisdom, grace, and passion for the ministry with us.

Your words have re-ignited our mission to bring Christ closer to the hearts of many.
May we continue to be faithful instruments of God's love and truth. ⛪️🤍

"RELATION-SHIFT" WITH JESUS

My brothers and sisters, today we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord. For the Apostles, it was a profound moment of transition—a "RELATION- SHIFT."

Story: May isang binata. Kapag tumatawag ang kanyang girlfriend, ang nakalagay na pangalan sa cellphone niya ay “My Life.” 💐

After a few more years, nilagay ni mister sa caller ID — “Home.” 😅

“Wrong Number.” Ignore the call na.🤣

**********

✨He simply changed the way He is present to us.

When Jesus walked on earth, His physical presence was limited.
But through the Ascension, Christ became present everywhere.

Kasama natin Siya ngayon.
In every Mass.
In every chapel.
In every pain and sorrow.
In every act of love.

Jesus ascended into heaven.
The disciples watched Him leave. At first, di sila maka-move on. Parang na-sepanx. (Separation anxiety) 😄
"How will you miss me if I don't go away?" (Parang Twister Fries lang, di po ba?🍟🤣)

If you ask young people today what Ascension means, some might jokingly say:

“Father, is Jesus the ultimate T.O.T.G.A. — The One That Got Away?”

But here is the truth:
The Ascension is not abandonment.
It is transition.

👉 By ascending, Jesus transitioned from being **BESIDE** them to being **INSIDE** them. Jesus chose to STEP OUT OF THE LIMELIGHT so that He could become the true LIGHT FOR ALL.

**********

✍️Life Lesson: Life is full of difficult transitions: graduating, getting married, going through a breakup, becoming a parent, children leaving home, retirement, and getting old. We must learn to ACCEPT CHANGE AND GROW. 🌱 Otherwise, we will always be in pain. We need to reframe loss as opportunity. SOMETHING GOOD HAS TO “LEAVE” SO THAT SOMETHING GREATER CAN EMERGE.

*********

💡Ascension is Empowerment

Hindi lahat ng paglisan ay pagpapabaya.
Sometimes love takes the form of absence.
“Ha? Bakit?” Para lalo siyang lumago at mapabuti.

A good parent eventually lets the child walk alone.
A good teacher does not spoon-feed students with information, but guides them to discover how to find it on their own.
A good leader prepares others to lead.

As John Maxwell puts it: “Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ABILITY TO EMPOWER OTHERS."⚡

GANITO MAGMAHAL SI HESUS.
He loved the Church so much that He refused to keep the apostles dependent on Him forever.

Because if Jesus stayed physically on earth forever, perhaps the apostles would never discover the power of the Holy Spirit within them.

That is why Jesus said:
“You will do greater things than these.” (Jn 14:12)

📌“KAYO NAMAN.”
That is the message of the Ascension.

Your turn to preach.
Your turn to serve.
Your turn to heal.

True parenting isn't about spoon-feeding kids forever. It’s about TEACHING THEM INDEPENDENCE. Good parents know when to step back and let their children figure things out on their own—not out of cruelty, but for their greater good. Even mother eagles do this to their young.

If parents do everything for their children forever, the children become weak.
If leaders refuse to delegate, people never mature.

**********

Even in the Church, this is an important lesson. Bakit sa parokya, same faces?✌️🫣😁 Synodality calls us to give chance to others, for GREATER PARTICIPATION in mission.

There are leaders who can't let go. Most lay leaders probably MEAN WELL. Maraming salamat po. Pero minsan meron talagang “kapit-tuko leadership.”
Ayaw magparaya.

True leadership is not about staying in power forever.

Craig Groeschel wisely said:
"If you delegate tasks, you create followers. But if you DELEGATE AUTHORITY, you create leaders."

Jesus did not merely create followers.
He created future leaders.

He delegated authority.
He empowered ordinary people.
Fishermen became apostles.
Cowards became martyrs.

And that is also our mission today.

One day, all of us will have to FADE INTO THE BACKGROUND. Magiging emeritus ka rin! 😁

📍We're NOT PERMANENT.
Only God is.

📍We're NOT INDISPENSABLE either.
Only God is.

**********

The Ascension reminds us that HEAVEN is our destination.
If Jesus remained visibly here forever, WE MIGHT THINK THIS WORLD IS BETTER THAN HEAVEN. If he stayed in Jerusalem, we’d all be fighting for a plane ticket just to ask Him for a selfie with a wacky. 😋🫰✌️😆

But Christ ascended to lift our eyes UPWARD.⬆️ One day, we will leave behind our wealth, fame, power, and even the people dearest to us. Amid the distractions and diversions of daily life, the Ascension reminds us of the ULTIMATE PURPOSE and GOAL of our existence.

**********

EVERY MOMENT OF PRAYER🛐 is, in a way, an ASCENSION MOMENT for us.

In history, there have been saints reportedly witnessed LEVITATING (lumulutang) during deep prayer—like St. Joseph of Cupertino, St. Teresa of Ávila, St. Pio, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Martin de Porres, and even our very own Filipino bishop, Teofilo Camomot. Amazing, isn’t it?😮

I once heard this saying: “Angels fly not because they have wings, but because they CARRY NO BURDEN.” (E. Freeman)

WE BECOME LIKE ANGELS whenever we lift our burdens up to God. Prayer lifts us closer to heaven.

As the beautiful hymn expresses: 🎶 🎼
"Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer."

Amen.
