Beneath the solemn hymns and sacred light of the Eucharistic celebration at Saint James the Great Parish, the faithful gathered as one in thanksgiving for the 25 years of devoted priestly service of Rev. Fr. Joselito T. Galidoβ€”a journey woven with unwavering faith, humble sacrifice, and compassionate ministry; and as prayers rose like incense within the sanctuary, hearts were reminded that a vocation rooted in Christ continues to become a living testament of love, service, and grace through the years.

Bestow on us, we pray, O Lord, the wisdom and strength of the Cross, with which you were pleased to endow Saint Rita, so that, suffering in every tribulation with Christ, we may participate ever more deeply in his Paschal Mystery. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Almighty and eternal God, who made the Priest Saint Christopher Magallanes and his companions faithful to Christ the King even to the point of martyrdom, grant us, through their intercession, that, perserving in confession of the true faith, we may always hold fast to the commandments of your love. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Choosing priesthood is not about losing your manhood or your freedom, but about throwing your strength into the ultimate adventure of total surrender. When you lay down your own blueprints and pick up His, you stop living for yourself and start living for eternity.

β€œLove to be real, it must costβ€”it must hurtβ€”it must empty us of self.”
-St. Teresa of Calcutta

Real love is never a passive, comfortable feeling; it is an active choice to pour ourselves out for another, even when the cost is our own comfort. To love deeply means risking heartbreak, tasting the ache of vulnerability, and letting go of our desires to make room for the other.

May 17 | Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord

The Ascension is a liturgical Solemnity celebrated by all the Christian Churches. It falls on the fortieth day after Easter Sunday. Saint John Chrysostom and Saint Augustine make reference to it, but it was probably Saint Gregory of Nyssa who influenced the propagation of the feast. Since it falls on Thursday, in many countries, this Solemnity is transferred to the following Sunday. With his Ascension into heaven, the presence of the β€œhistorical Christ” comes to an end, and the presence of the Body of Christ, the Church, is inaugurated.

The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, β€œAll power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” (Mt 28:16-20)

Under open skies and humble fields, we gather as one faithful community to offer the Holy Mass in this remote place, honoring Saint Isidore the Laborer β€” patron of farmers and workers. May every seed planted be blessed, every labor be fruitful, and every heart remain rooted in God’s grace.
