In preparation for the sacred season of Lent, the members of the Third Order of Carmelites โ€“ St. Albert of Trapani Community gathered for a recollection focused on the spiritual teachings of John of the Cross, particularly his Precautions, which guide souls toward deeper conversion and union with God.

Through moments of prayer, reflection, and silence, the community meditated on the wisdom of St. John of the Cross, reminding us to guard our hearts, practice humility and detachment, and seek God above all things.

As we walk this Lenten journey, may these spiritual counsels inspire us to grow in prayer, self-denial, and charity, drawing closer to Christ and living more faithfully the Carmelite vocation in the world.

Last March 14, 2026, at the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Charity โ€“ Sta. Monica Parish, Agoo, La Union, the Third Order of Carmelites โ€“ Region of Stella Maris gathered in prayer during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the Rites of Acceptance to Aspirancy Formation and Reception to the Novitiate.

With grateful hearts, the Carmelite community witnessed the generous response of our brothers and sisters who answered the call to journey more deeply in the spirituality of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Through these sacred rites, new candidates were welcomed into the formation of the Carmelite family, committing themselves to grow in prayer, service, and fraternity.

We warmly congratulate and pray for the newly accepted aspirants and novices from the St. Albert of Trapani TOC Community (Agoo, La Union) and the Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin TOC Community (Sison, Pangasinan). May the Lord continue to guide them as they walk the path of Carmel under the loving mantle of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Today, we begin our Lenten journey on this sacred day of Ash Wednesday. As we receive the ashes, may we be reminded of our humility, our mortality, and our need for Godโ€™s mercy.

May we start the great season of lent with sober hearts and minds. We turn ourselves towards Christ and unite ourselves with His redemptive work as we hope to celebrate the great joy and victory of our Savior.

As God's children, we are reminded to return to the interior life, to silence, and to deeper union with God. Lent is a time to detach from sin and grow in virtue through prayer, sacrifice, and charity.

Let this season be a time of prayer, fasting, and charity.
