TITHING IS NOT GIVING TO GOD — IT IS RETURNING WHAT IS HIS.
Everything we have comes from God. Our life, strength, opportunities, abilities, work, and provision are all gifts from His hand. When we give our tithes, we are not giving God something that was originally ours. We are returning to Him what already belongs to Him.
📖 Malachi 3:10
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse…”
God calls His people to honor Him with what He has entrusted to them. Tithing is not about buying God's blessings, nor is it a way to earn His favor. It is an expression of obedience, gratitude, worship, and trust.
📖 Proverbs 3:9
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.”
Notice the word FIRST. God deserves more than what is left over. He deserves the first and the best because He is the One who provides everything we have.
Sometimes giving is difficult. There may be bills to pay, needs to meet, and uncertainties about tomorrow. But faith says, “God, I trust You even when I cannot see what tomorrow holds.”
📖 Matthew 6:21
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Our giving reveals what has captured our hearts. Money can become our security, but God reminds us that our true security is found in Him.
📖 2 Corinthians 9:7
“God loves a cheerful giver.”
We do not give because we are forced. We give because we understand who God is and what He has done for us.
And remember:
God does not need our money. He wants our hearts.
Tithing is ultimately about recognizing that God is the Owner, and we are stewards. What we possess is entrusted to us for a season, and one day we will give an account of how we used what He placed in our hands.
📖 Psalm 24:1
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”
So when you give, don't think, “I am losing something.”
Think:
“I am honoring the One who gave me everything.”
Give with faith.
Give with gratitude.
Give with obedience.
Give with a willing heart.
Because the greatest blessing is not what we receive from God's hand—it is knowing the God who holds everything in His hands.
