Nae Church Dedication

Nae Church Dedication After twenty-four (24) tough years of painful journey, the Church at Nae Village, Mussau Island will soon to be dedicated. Plan to celebrate with us !

Twenty-two (22) years ago, the small populace of Nae Village on the island of Mussau in the Saint Mathias Group of Islands, met in one communion to celebrate their relationship, reunion and return to their hamlet. Their meeting place was a 30 year old church building that barely could fit everyone. This gave birth to a dream to build a bigger church that could accommodate more than 70 people. This

dream is now about to be realized and so we invite you to journey with us this year through photographs, prayer vigils and news updates until "Dedication 22" D'Day.

The story of this new Nae Church Dedication will be one that is filled with God's Mercies, Miracles and Mysteries.

In, 2011 an old DVD CD was found in a rubbish bin that contained valuable photograps and 8mm videos of people and places in Mussau Island during the 1960's period.

Amongst these treasures, lay the evidences of the first ever church dedication in Mussau captured on video.

Nae Church was the last church built in Mussau Island in 1960 since the Seventh-day Adventist Missionaries arrived thirty-years (30) prior, but uniquely the first church, by our builders on the island, to be built on the ground.

This two (2) minute video capture by Pr. Robert R Frame who was then the Assistant Secretary to the Australian Inter-Union Conference (You can see the bow of MV Malalagi in the foreground at 0:00:00-0:00:07 timeline on the video)

TRIVIA #2-19

Did you know that Francisco Antonio Mourelle de la Rúa is the sole Spaniard to have gone ashore to the Saint Matthias islands, especially Tench, from his frigate "Princesca" on 12 January 1781? His visit created a rumor by Austria-American writer Ernst von Hesse-Wartegg later in the 1900s that he had gone to Saint Matthias to hunt for slaves for work in the gold mines in Peru. (Rumor was just pure fantasy)

TRIVIA #1-19

Did you know that, English explorer William Dampier, came in contact with Mussau Islands on the morning of 25th Feb 1700? He named the main island Saint Matthias in honor of the Apostle that replaced Judas in Acts 1:12-26

God yearns the strength of our youth to accomplish His will on this earth. As a response, these young leaders have dedicated their human faculties, although faulty, in the Masters hands.

There is now more good news for us to anticipate Nae Church Dedication.

Our faithful young leader, John Luke Brendan had come back from Nae, Mussau Island, a week ago and given these updates:

Work in progress:
Walling, flooring and shelves and drawers in the office and conference room upstairs are on target to be completed soon.

Timber will be cut for walling and flooring on track with sawmill from Roitano community. They were willing to give their sawmill in exchange for Brendan fixing their generator.

Eighteen (18) sheets of 12m plywood are now on their way to Nae to replace the old ceiling rotten by termites. A total of K5000.00 was raised by Lae & Port Moresby communities to help fund these purchases and also food for all the builders that will come to put final touches to God's Church at Nae.

It is also now confirmed young and old builders from Roitano, Lomakunauru and Katulusae have pledged their support to help our people work on the few outstanding tasks before the church is ready for dedication.

The aim now is to complete all work by the end of this month, October 2019.
