As we go through the El Niño period and prepare for One Voice 2027, the Central Papua Conference is providing practical training and skills development opportunities to equip our church members, families, and communities.

The Stewardship Skills & Communication Expo 2026 is designed to build practical skills in areas such as climate-smart farming, digital marketing, catering, entrepreneurship, stewardship, and communication. These skills can help our members strengthen their livelihoods, become more resilient during challenging times, support their families, and contribute to the development of our communities.

This initiative is especially timely as we prepare for One Voice 2027, ensuring that our churches and members are not only spiritually prepared, but also equipped with practical knowledge and skills to respond to the needs and challenges ahead.

Granville SDA Church Launches Five-Year Plan to Expand Adult Literacy and Life Skills

More than 80 students have graduated from the Granville Seventh-day Adventist Church Adult Literacy and Life Skills Training programme since its establishment, with the initiative now entering a new phase following the launch of its 2026–2030 Five-Year Plan.

The plan was launched on Sunday, August 16, at Granville SDA Church at Kopiago Block, 9 Mile, bringing together church leaders, government vocational education representatives, community leaders, students and other stakeholders.

The programme operates under the Central Papua Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and combines adult literacy, practical life skills, vocational pathways and Christian outreach.

Granville's Adult Literacy programme began in 2020, followed by the Life Skills Training programme in 2023. Since then, more than 80 students have completed the programmes, gaining basic education, practical skills and pathways to further training and employment.

Granville School Board Chairman James Dat said the programme was helping fulfil both the SDA Church's mission and national priorities for human capital development.

He said the centre demonstrated how education could become a pathway for empowerment, community transformation and evangelism.

The programme is open to both church members and people from non-church backgrounds, creating an opportunity for the church to engage with the wider community through education.

Mr Dat said 25 graduates had come from non-church backgrounds, with 16 of them later accepting Christianity and being baptised.

“Granville Adult Literacy and Life Skills Training has been achieving the objectives of both the SDA Church mission of evangelism and empowerment of people through skills development, as well as the National Government's plan for human capital development,” he said.

📢 CHILDREN’S MINISTRY LEADERSHIP TRAINING

The Central Papua Conference Children’s Ministry Department warmly invites all Children’s Ministry Leaders, Coordinators, Pastors, and District Directors to participate in the Alive in Jesus Hands-On Training & Leadership Certification Level 1.

📅 Date: August 30 – September 6, 2026
📍 Venue: Bautama Mission Grounds
💰 Registration Fee: K150 per church
👥 Participants: Maximum of three (3) representatives from each local church

Registration forms are available for collection from the Central Papua Conference Reception. Please complete and submit your registration form before the deadline on August 26, 2026.

This training is a valuable opportunity to equip and strengthen our Children’s Ministry leaders as we work together to disciple every child for Jesus through the Alive in Jesus initiative.
