I joined two mile church in 2016 as a young man. Met a few other youths who were active in church. But the two that I grew close to where Jordan Asio and Lewis Tali. Late Branson Asio was a strong uniting factor that brought us together. A very active and sociable person. We all call him uncle Branson.
I was with Jordan in the communications team. Met Lewis in the Male voice choir. ‘Twas a great company. In fact it was more than a company – a family.
Spent lots of time after church activities, chatting, enjoying each other’s company, sometimes oblivious of time and commitments. Didn't know about their other halves until after a chat with our church pastor one afternoon.
Church pastor at that time was Min. Enock Kitum (now Pr. Kitum - DD Huon District). He was also a young man at that time. One afternoon after a choir practice, we were carried away enjoying each other’s company.
Lewis dominated the conversation. It was getting late and Min. Kitum cut him short with this statement:
"Lewis you katim stori bo yu short na go now. Yu g*t 5 more minutes before lo Mt. Tavurvur i pairap."
Yes, later I learnt about Shane… Lewis's perfect half... not as violent as the hot lava of Mt. Tavurvur. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful heart and character that contrasted the violence of a volcano.
All these was just good to be true... this is a dreadful fact about life no one dares to talk about. Our hearts torn into million pieces, no one can mend except the one who made it..
In a world of hatred, envy and jealousy, good people are few and far between… She is one of them. People remember less about their many good deeds and more about their few bad deeds until they are gone.
My family and I will remember her the way she was to us…
…an active youth, a loving mom, a committed teacher and a good friend.
Gone but never forgotten.
Rest safely in the arms of Jesus, until that great and glorious morning.
