Welcome to September 2025. As we begin the 9th month of 2025, I post this devotional reflection to encourage you to meditate on this scripture portion, “Luke 1:37-38” to let it nurture your faith, filling your heart with hope and confidence in the God who fulfills His Word. Stay inspired!

1-September

Reflection Theme: God’s Word Never Fails!

“God keeps His promises—His promises for you will come true.”

Scripture: “…the Word of the Lord will never fail… may everything you have said about me come true.”
—Luke 1:37-38 (NLT)

As we ponder the truth of God’s Word, let us embrace the deep assurance that His Word is alive, powerful, and unfailing. In the account of the angel Gabriel's announcement to Mary, we witness a moment filled with wonder and uncertainty. Mary responds with courage and faith, demonstrating her trust in God’s promises despite the magnitude of what has been spoken over her life.

In a world where promises often break and words can fall flat, God’s declarations stand firm. His Word is not merely ink on a page; it is the very essence of His character, reflecting His faithfulness and love. When God speaks, creation responds, and His plans unfurl.

Reflect on the areas of your life where you may need to reaffirm your trust in God’s Word. Are there promises you are waiting to see fulfilled? Do you find it hard to believe in the goodness God has declared over your life? Just as Mary received the incredible promise of bearing Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, let us also receive with open hearts the words He speaks to us today.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word that never fails. Help me to trust in Your promises, to believe that everything You have said about me will come true. In moments of doubt, remind me of Your faithfulness. May I respond with the same spirit of obedience and faith that Mary did, ready to embrace Your plans for my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Shabbat Shalom — Family, and Friends of YL:
Here is my latest devotional word:

Devotional Title: “The Jealousy of God”

“The Lord is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and rage. He takes revenge on all who oppose him and continues to rage against his enemies!”
‭‭Nahum‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

Observation:

In Nahum 1:2, we see a vivid depiction of God as a jealous God, filled with vengeance and rage against His enemies. This passage underscores the seriousness of God’s character as He passionately defends His holiness and the covenant relationship He has with His people. The word "jealous" in this context conveys a sense of intense concern and protective love, suggesting that God desires exclusive devotion from His people. His wrath against those who oppose Him is portrayed as a righteous response to unfaithfulness and rebellion.

The context of Nahum involves the prophecy of Nineveh’s impending judgment, a city known for its wickedness and opposition to God. Thus, this jealousy is not arbitrary; it is rooted in a divine love seeking to uphold justice and righteousness. God’s nature, including His wrath and jealousy, reveals a complex relationship in which He longs for His people to turn from evil and return to Him.

Interpretation:

God's jealousy is not the same as human jealousy, which often stems from insecurity or selfishness. Instead, God's jealousy springs from His desire for a faithful relationship with His people. He cannot abide by rival allegiances, as they lead His people away from the fullness of life He intends for them. When we read about His anger and vengeance, we understand that it arises from a place of love; He desires to protect His people from harm and the consequences of turning toward sin.

This passage serves as a reminder that God is actively involved in the moral order of the universe. He stands against injustice and evil and will ultimately bring about righteousness in His timing. His jealousy leads Him not only to oppose those who oppose Him but also to call His people back to true worship and fidelity.

Application:

1. Examine Your Allegiances: Take time to reflect on what or whom you might be giving your devotion in place of God. Are there distractions, relationships, or idols in your life that pull your focus away from Him? Identify these and consider ways to realign your priorities.

2. Embrace His Love: Understand that God’s jealousy for His people stems from His love. When you face conviction or discipline from God, view it as an opportunity to grow closer to Him rather than a point of condemnation.

3. Seek Holiness: Challenge yourself to pursue a life of holiness that reflects God’s character. Strive to live in a way that honors Him and His commandments, demonstrating your allegiance to Him above all else.

4. Pray for Justice: In times of injustice, remember God's righteousness. Pray for His intervention in situations of evil and suffering, trusting that He will ultimately uphold justice.

Prayer:

Dear God,

Thank You for being a God who is passionate about Your relationship with us. Your jealousy reveals the depth of Your love and commitment to Your people. Help me to understand and embrace this aspect of Your character, knowing that You desire my whole heart, mind, and soul.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Shabbat Shalom Family & Friends of YWAM Lae:

I count it joy to share this devotional word with you and I pray you will be blessed.

Devotional Title:
The Weight of Truth

Devotional scripture:

“When the king heard what was written in the Book of the Law, he tore his clothes in despair. “Go to the Temple and speak to the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah. Inquire about the words written in this scroll that has been found. For the Lord’s great anger is burning against us because our ancestors have not obeyed the words in this scroll. We have not been doing everything it says we must do.” — 2 Kings‬ ‭22‬:‭11‬, ‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

In 2 Kings 22:11, 13, we witness King Josiah's profound reaction upon hearing the words of the Book of the Law that had been discovered in the Temple. Tearing his clothes was a traditional sign of mourning and deep distress in ancient Israel, indicating the gravity of his realization. The king’s response reflects not only personal sorrow but also collective grief for the nation of Judah. He recognizes that the people had strayed from God’s commands laid out in the Law, resulting in His anger toward them. Josiah's immediate response is to seek God’s guidance through prayer and inquiry, showing his deep concern for both himself and his people’s spiritual state.

Interpretation:

This passage underscores the importance of the Word of God in our lives. The discovery of the Book of the Law highlights how easily God's truth can be neglected or forgotten. Josiah's instinctive reaction illustrates a profound conviction: when confronted with God's standards, we are called to respond, not with indifference, but with humility and urgency. His plea to inquire about the scroll reflects a heartfelt desire to understand the implications of their disobedience and to seek reconciliation with God.

Josiah's acknowledgment of their ancestors' failure to obey the Law emphasizes a generational responsibility to uphold and teach God's ways. It reminds us that the consequences of turning away from God's truth can span generations. This moment invites us to consider our own adherence to God's Word and the state of our spiritual commitments.

Application:

1. Reflect on God’s Word: Take time to read and meditate on the Scriptures. Are there areas of your life where you have neglected or misaligned your actions with what God has called you to do? Allow the Word to challenge and transform you.

2. Respond with Humility: Just as Josiah tore his clothes in despair, allow yourself to be moved by God’s truth. If you recognize areas of disobedience or neglect in your life, respond not with shame but with repentance, seeking God’s mercy and guidance.

3. Inquire and Pray: Just as King Josiah sought counsel and prayed, make it a practice to bring your concerns before God. Seek understanding and direction regarding the issues you face, both personally and within your community.

4. Teach and Share: Take responsibility for sharing God’s truth with others. Educate your family, friends, or church community about the importance of living according to God’s Word, helping to cultivate a culture of obedience and reverence for Him.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your Word, which reveals Your heart and guides us in truth. As I reflect on the passage in 2 Kings, I see the importance of aligning my life with Your commands. Forgive me for the times I have overlooked Your teachings or chosen my own path. Like King Josiah, I want to respond to Your Word with humility and urgency. Help me to seek Your wisdom and guidance in every aspect of my life. Teach me to be a faithful steward of Your truth, sharing it with others and helping to cultivate a spirit of obedience in my community. May my heart be sensitive to the leading of Your Spirit, and may my life be a reflection of Your love and righteousness.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Unshakable Assurance

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 54:17
“No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me, says Yahweh.” (WEB)

Reflection:

In Isaiah 54:17, Yahweh provides a powerful promise of protection and vindication for His people. The assurance that “no weapon formed against you will prevail” reminds us that, regardless of the challenges or opposition we face, Yahweh’s sovereignty is greater than any threat. Whether these weapons are physical, emotional, or spiritual, we can stand firm in the knowledge that Yahweh shields His children.

The verse also speaks to the words of condemnation and judgment that may assail us. In a world rife with criticism and negativity, Yahweh assures us that we have the authority—through Him—to reject and overcome these hostile judgments. This is not of our own doing but is rooted in Yahweh’s righteousness, the righteousness given to us through our relationship with Him.

As we meditate on this promise, we can find encouragement in knowing that our identity as Yahweh’s children is secure. We are heirs to His heritage, which includes faithfulness, protection, and the assurance that we are more than conquerors through Christ.

Application:

Recognize Your Heritage: Reflect on your identity as a child of Yahweh. What does it mean to you to be part of His heritage? How does this impact your daily life?

Combat Negative Thoughts: Identify any "weapons" or condemning words that have been troubling you. Write them down and counter them with truths from Scripture that affirm your worth and identity in Christ.

Pray for Protection: Make it a habit to pray for protection for yourself and your family against any weapons formed against you. Ask Yahweh to grant you the strength to confront and condemn any negativity that rises against you, trusting in His righteousness.

Prayer:
Gracious Father, thank You for the assurance that no weapon formed against me or my family will prevail. Help me to stand firm in my identity as Your servant and to rely on Your righteousness as my shield. Grant me wisdom to recognize and reject the judgments and negativity that may rise against me. May Your peace guard my heart and mind, empowering me to walk confidently and consistently in Your truth. I place my trust in You, knowing that I am secure in Your love and protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

25th April 2025

To Friends of YWAM Lae,

Reflection Topic:
Let Your Light Shine

Reflection Text: Matthew 5:14-16
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." — Matthew 5:14-16 (ESV)

As followers of Christ, we are called to a life that is the light for mankind. Jesus emphasizes that we lives as, "the light of the world," making it clear that our purpose is to shine His light brightly and share His love boldly with people around us, through deeds of love and grace. Just as a city on a hill is visible from miles away, our actions and attitudes should reflect the power of God's love, life and light, expressed in kindness and acts of generosity.

Consider the implications of hiding our light. Just as a lamp is meant to illuminate, our good works are not merely for personal gain or recognition. Good works we do are intended to direct people toward God and point a pathway to Christ, causing the people to see the good work we do, to glorify our Father in heaven. This is an invitation—not just to act kindly, but to live out our faith in action, shining Jesus’ light through our actions and words.

Practical Life Application:
1. Identify Your Light: Reflect on the unique gifts, talents, and blessings that God has given you. How can you use your time, talent and treasure to serve others and spread God’s love?

2. Shine Brightly and Live Boldly: Look for opportunities today to let your light shine. Whether it’s through an act of kindness, or simply by living with joy and peace and being content in difficult circumstances—be intentional about Christlike living.

3. Share the Glory: As you shine your light, remember to point back to God. In conversations and interactions, express gratitude and acknowledge how He has transformed your life.

“Let your light shine in a way that is unmistakable and unwavering—a testimony to the power of Christ living in you – the hope of glory.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thankyou for making me a light in this world. Help me to shine your light brightly, reflecting Your character to people around me. May the good works I do draw others closer to You, and may my life bring glory to Your awesome name. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Shabbat Shalom friends of YWAM Lae!

‘Good Friday’ reflections⎯let’s dive in.

Reflection Topic: The Seed Must Die To Produce Many Seeds

Reflection scripture: In John 12:24 Jesus shares a profound truth: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” (ESV)

This passage illuminates the paradox of life through death—an invitation to embrace the transformative power of sacrifice. Just as a seed must be death to bring forth new life, we too are called to surrender our lives in order to flourish and to bring forth much fruit.

Reflect on what it means to die to our carnal desires, ambitions, or comforts for the sake of something greater. Christ exemplified this ultimate act of love, choosing to endure suffering for our redemption. In our own lives, the true essence of discipleship involves a willingness to love and follow Him, even when it requires stepping into uncomfortable spaces or relinquishing rights to control.

Personal Life Application:
As you meditate on the words of Jesus, consider where God is asking you to lay down your life. What “seed” is He calling you to plant through acts of selflessness and love? Remember, true fulfillment comes not from holding tightly to our lives but from letting go and allowing God to work in and through us, multiplying His love and grace, planting incorruptible seed of God’s Word in the soil of the souls of people. May you heed the call to die, so in dying you flourish and thrive to bear much fruit for God’s glory.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for laying down your life, so that many seeds may come forth as fruits of your sacrifice. I thank you Jesus, I am born again of incorruptible seed and I have the promise and hope of resurrection. Help me to be faithful in planting the incorruptible seed in the soil of peoples heart.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflection Topic: Divine Influence

Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:33
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

Reflection:
The Kingdom of God is often described as a realm where God's rule and authority reign supreme—a place characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). It is more than a distant future hope; it starts within us and manifests in our actions and interactions in our missional communities and the societies around us. When we prioritize seeking God’s kingdom first, we align ourselves with His purpose, allowing His influence to permeate our communities.

As we navigate through the complexities of life, it's crucial to remember that God’s influence is not only transformative for individuals but also for entire communities. His love compels us to become agents of change, pushing back against injustice and spreading grace where there is hostility, and love where there is hatred. The teachings of Christ encourage us to engage with the world through acts of compassion and service, reflecting His character in a tangible way.

Application:
1. Seek God First: Each day, take time to intentionally seek God through prayer and scripture meditation, asking Him to reveal ways you can contribute to His kingdom in your community.
2. Be an Influence: Reflect on what influence you hold in your own circles—whether in your family, missional community, or in the locality where you serve. Consider how you can embody God’s love and righteousness in those spaces.
3. Make a Difference: Identify a social issue that concerns you and explore how you can be part of the solution, be it through volunteering, advocacy, or simply building relationships based on love and respect.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Kingdom and the ways You invite us to participate in it. Help us to seek Your righteousness earnestly and to live out our faith in practical ways that influence our communities. May our actions reflect Your love and grace, drawing others into the light of Your Kingdom. Amen.

Closing Thought:
As we seek the Kingdom of God, and its influence on our life, we become reflections of His influence in our community and societies. Our acts of kindness, love, and justice can ripple outwards, illuminating the path for others and leading them closer to the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s embrace our role as bearers of His Kingdom and be catalysts for change and give people hope for life with Jesus Christ in His Kingdom.

Reflection topic: Live By Grace Through Faith

“It is by grace through faith, from start to finish—Live by grace and grace alone!”

Key text: Romans 1:17
“For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Just as we are saved by grace through faith in Christ, not by any effort of ours lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2: 8-9); so also, we can live holy lives as Christians only by grace through faith in Christ, not by any effort of ours, but through depending by faith on Christ, who now lives in us in Person of His Holy Spirit, to live out His life in and through us, for the just shall live by faith! (Romans 1:17).

And so no one can boast that he has been saved, or is able to live a holy life by his own effort, it is all the work of Christ, purely because of His grace!

Paul stressed this point saying; “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Gal 2:20-21)

Thus, we are saved by grace through faith in Christ, and we live by grace through faith in Christ, for the glory of His mighty name!

I pray that in your struggle against sin, you would not feel too discouraged and give up, but remember that in Christ, God sees you as perfect, despite your continual struggle, as you by His grace, depend by faith on Christ in you, to increasingly live out His life through you, by the power of the Holy Spirit, towards meeting up to the perfect standard of God practically, in Jesus name. Amen.

YWAM Lae family and friends, Sabbath Shalom to you all. During my sabbatical, I will write short devotions and post it on this platform every Friday to encourage you all. For Friday 27 April we focus on the topic below:

Topic: God’s Original Design

Scripture reading: Psalm 139:13-15
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Let us reflect on the idea of God's original design. The scripture reading reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, created in God's image with purpose and intention. Take a moment to consider how God has uniquely designed you. What gifts, talents, or experiences has He given you? How might these reflect His image? Remember, you are not an accident or afterthought, but a masterpiece crafted by the Divine Creator. You are unique! There will never be another like you. You are His masterpiece!

You are created fulfil a destiny, He has given you. His anointing lives in you and you are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Before you were born, God planned in advance your destiny and the good works you would do to fulfil your destiny.

It is written: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Prayer: Today, thank God for His intentional design and His purpose for your life and ask Him to help you live fully into that design. Amen.

Second Post for 2025

Topic: God Gives the Growth
Portion of Scripture:
1 Corinthians 3:5-9

“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 ESV

Recently, I was asked by the leader of LMF Denmark (Christian Teachers Association) to write a devotion on the topic, “God Gives the Growth” for LMF Norway, which will be published in the LMF Norway magazine this year.

Below are the extracts from the devotional. I hope you will be encouraged and edified.

The verses in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7, explains how God gives each one of us a role in His kingdom advancement process. We are in His plan, to collaborate and work in partnership, whether, we are sowing the seed, or watering the seed, or bringing in the harvest, we do ALL with understanding that God is the one that makes things grow.

The Greek term used for, “God gives the growth” or “God brings the increase” means to “make properly grow, become larger in size, non-stop progress, multiplication.”

God is committed properly growing up your ministry, maturing you as the Holy Spirit works with you to develop your gifts to serve as co-worker with Jesus and others that God has put around you to compliment your vision and ministry.

The seed is the Word of God (See Luke 8:11-18). As the seed is planted in your heart, God will bring someone to water the seed, and as you remain in Jesus and His Word remain in you, He will give growth, so that you bear much fruit, the kind of fruit that remains for God, and for His glory (See John 15:5-8).

Your journey of trust and obey creates your God-story that reveals your God-given ministry to use your unique God-story to reach people no one else can. He will use your creativity and interests, your spiritual gifts and passions, and your tragedy and pain to design a perfect ministry path for you, for His purpose.

As you journey through your relationship with Jesus, let your prayer be the words John the Baptist uttered in John 3:30: “He must increase…I must decrease.”

May God make all grace abound to you, and give you grace upon grace as you use your God-given gifts to participate in sowing the seed, cultivating the soil for the seed to flourish and bringing in the harvest (souls), to build up God's ever increasing kingdom. Amen

First Post for 2025

Word of ENCOURAGEMENT:
“Encouragement is an oxygen to the soul.”
—John Maxwell

Topic: Don’t Let Service Become A Distraction.

Scripture portion:
Luke 10:38-42 (ESV)

“Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

You may have heard many sermons on this story before. Martha welcomed Jesus into her home. Martha wanted to serve Jesus, probably wanting everything to be perfect. This was honorable, and I’m sure Jesus appreciated it. However, she ignored one thing that is necessary, “intimacy with Jesus” which Mary chose, “to sit at Jesus’ feet, be with Jesus, and listen to Him.”

When Martha complains that Mary has left her alone, to do all the household chores, Martha got distracted by her serving, and it written, “Do everything without complaining and arguing,”Philippians 2:14 (NLT).

Consider this: Like Martha, we welcome Jesus into our hearts, than we are preoccupied with busyness doing good things that do not nourish us, because we neglect one thing that is necessary, “intimacy with Jesus.”

When referring to Mary, Jesus says, “But one thing is necessary,” and He further emphasises, “Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

Our busy activity does not equate to intimacy with Jesus and busyness does not equate to fruit that remains. Let us be careful that our busyness does not become a distraction to the one thing that is necessary, “intimacy with Jesus.” He doesn’t want us trying to earn His love, but He wants us to desire to be with Him.

APPLICATION:
Are you a Martha or a Mary? If Martha, consider how you get to know Jesus more better by spending quality time with Him, listening to Him, as you spend time in prayer and meditation in His Word. If you are a Mary, don’t miss the opportunity to serve Jesus as an overflow of your love and devotion for Him. Be careful not to ignore your intimacy with Jesus!

Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to abide with Jesus that my service for His kingdom is an overflow of my love and devotion for Jesus. Amen.
