~ POM SCHOOLS OVERWHELMED (as the Truth made its way into the Religious Education Class) ~
Into the second week of the National Educational Calenda of the PNG Education System in the first month of the Gregorian Calendar 2016, the Truth Repairers and Restorers have established itself as an impact player in the Religious Education program of Schools in Port Moresby.
With the establishment of the ministry including its Legal registration, schools have opened their Teaching Curriculum to include Religious Education to be taught by the Truth Repairers and Restorers Gospel workers.
Beginning at Badiagwa Secondary school in 2015 when Gospel workers including Joshua Saman and Katu began taking Religious Education in place of representatives of denominations that provided the religious class, the ministry of Religious Education in schools by gospel workers of TRRM in POM have since grown into more than 7 schools across the nation’s capital.
“We have gospel workers taking R.E at Badiagwa, Kilakila, Tokarara and Gerehu Secondary schools, Koki Vocational School, Kilakila, Kaugere, Koki and Hagara primary schools,” said Gospel Worker Saike Kesi.
Each gospel worker of TRRM taking Religion Education has his own story to tell about the envy faced from other Religious Education Teachers from other denominations. Even challenges faced from Coordinators of Religious Education in various schools. But it was all part of the experience into establishing the ministry in the schools. Since then, the response from the schools and students have been overwhelming. Reports of students leaving their R.E. classes and joining up the class where the TRRM gospel workers were teaching R.E has been the norm so far. At some schools, classrooms cannot contain the influx of students. Class captains and student leaders had to organise and identify shades on the school ground to provide a comfort for students to settle down and take in the most they can from the gospel workers.
“How many R.E teacher did you bring?” asked the R.E coordinator for Hagara Primary School to one of the TRRM gospel worker. “Two, just me and the other R.E teacher,” responded the gospel worker. “Bring more! bring more,” the coordinator exclaimed exhaustedly. “I will give all the classes to you,” he went on.
Currently, an average of three gospel workers attend to one school with each gospel worker covering more than one class. At Kaugere primary school, the school administration has decided that the beginning of the week assembly on the 1st day of school shall have the TRRM gospel workers at the assembly for morning assembly fellowship and the week’s dedication prayer. “Sowing the seed of Truth into schools is a very strategic move,” said Benzamin Zairo. “These are the future leaders of this nation and what better way to impart good and sound principles for future leaders than what your gospel workers are doing,” he went on. “In schools, students’ minds are open to learning and while their minds are yet open to learning, let us sow the seeds. It may seem foolish now but if you stay alive by the grace of God in the near future, you might happen to see one of those interested students of yours taking a leading role on the affairs of this nation or even in this movement which the Lord has led us this far. If that’s what the Lord has called us for, let’s do it,” he said.
