🩸 ABEL SPIRIT VS. CAIN SPIRIT
(Faith’s Offering vs. Flesh’s Religion — Rightly Divided)
📖 Key Text: Hebrews 11:4; 1 John 3:12
“By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain…”
“Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one…”
🔰 INTRODUCTION
The story of Abel and Cain is not merely about two brothers—it reveals two spirits, two ways, and two religions.
Abel represents faith, grace, and acceptance by blood
Cain represents works, pride, and rejection by self-effort
Though Cain was religious, he was lost. Though Abel died early, he was approved.
👉 When rightly divided, this contrast illustrates the difference between works-religion and grace-salvation, a truth fully revealed in Paul’s gospel (Romans–Philemon).
📖 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
🟡 1️⃣ APPROACH — FAITH vs. FLESH 🚪
📖 Hebrews 11:4; Romans 10:3
A. Faith-Based Access – Abel came trusting God
B. Flesh-Based Access – Cain came trusting himself
C. False Confidence – Cain rejected God’s way
➡ Dispensational Insight:
Grace approaches God by faith, not by human effort.
🟡 2️⃣ BLOOD — ACCEPTED vs. ABSENT 🩸
📖 Genesis 4:4–5; Hebrews 9:22
A. Blood Presented – Abel offered life for life
B. Bloodless Produce – Cain offered the fruit of cursed ground
C. Broken Principle – No remission without blood
➡ Dispensational Insight:
From Genesis to Paul, blood—not works—satisfies God.
🟡 3️⃣ BELIEF — REVELATION vs. RELIGION 📜
📖 Romans 4:3; Colossians 2:23
A. Revelation Received – Abel believed God’s word
B. Religion Resisted – Cain invented his own way
C. Ritual Replaced Truth – Outward worship, inward rebellion
➡ Dispensational Insight:
Religion imitates truth but never submits to it.
🟡 4️⃣ BASIS — RIGHTEOUSNESS vs. RIGHTEOUS-LOOKING ⚖️
📖 Genesis 15:6; Philippians 3:9
A. Imputed Righteousness – Abel justified by faith
B. Imagined Righteousness – Cain trusted morality
C. Inferior Offering – Looked good, lacked faith
➡ Dispensational Insight:
God accepts Christ’s righteousness, not human goodness.
