When you think of Sabbath praise, do you think of amazing music? A moving sermon? A beautiful prayer? These are all wonderful examples of praise, but there are even more ways to live in celebration. Sometimes we can limit our praise to be something that is done rather than an attitude of the heart. But the wonderful truth is that when your heart is set to praise, God will motivate our actions to be an outpouring of perfect praise and celebration of the Sabbath. Whether out in nature, spending time with our friends and family, or going on a drive, Sabbath praise goes beyond convention and back to covenant.

God is never far, and always near.

But sometimes we as humans treat Him as though He’s some distant, arbitrary and disconnected being: powerful? Yes. Personal? No.

But when a day - a whole day - was set aside as a day of rest for mankind, He was very clear that His heart is for us - He wants to slow us down, to call us to intentional living, to call us to relationship.

Most images of God depict Him as a tyrant, with unyielding expectations on us as humans to perform. So why would He say “on this day, I want you to stop?”

The more we look at and practice Sabbath, the more we come to realise that the practice is not in the “doing” as much as it is the “relating.”

He’s not far off. He’s close. Come meet with your maker during these blessed 24 hours of rest for your heart, and closeness to His.

Looking back at how God cared for the Israelites in the past demonstrates how much God loves His people. Examining all of the times God has delivered us is evidence that we can trust God with our future.

It is a tremendous privilege to have a God who can meet all of our needs, who will give the spiritual food and drink we need in this broken world.

Have you ever forgotten the birthday of a loved one?

Some really don’t mind, and some really… uh… do.
There are a lot of people’s birthdays in our lives to remember, and as they swing around only once a year, it can sometimes just happen!

Our world celebrates many days that hold important meaning and elicit memories for each of us. From thanksgiving, to the religious festival days of all kinds of religious backgrounds - we are wired to pause and remember things we value and wish to celebrate.

Did you know that the oldest day in human history to be marked as a day for celebration features on the calendar not once, but 52 or so times a year?

The Sabbath is a memorial day of the birth of this earth, and the commencement of life upon it! When you practice Sabbath, you are part of a worldwide community that is taking part in the most ancient and beautiful memorial day ever to have been in human history.

So this Sabbath, get your celebration on! Sing songs, eat the food, cry out statements of great joy for the God who created this world, and has created and recreated you.

Mrs. Ellen. G. White understood that the Bible alone is the Christian standard for teaching and practice. But, why did God give the Spirit of Prophecy writings? Because it helps us to understand the Scriptures.

In the Scriptures, we have peace and courage to face even the strongest storms of life because the Bible provides faith-filled words of hope and encouragement.
