4th Annual Bena-Unggai District Camp 2026, Glory to God!

Baptist churches across Unggai-Bena District came together as one body this week at Maranatha Baptist Church, Safanaga, under the theme "Gospel, Revival & Missions."

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses..." (Acts 1:8)

Men, women, youth, and Awana children broke into their own sessions each day, digging into God's Word and growing in their walk with Christ. And the harvest is real, 4 precious souls gave their lives to Jesus Christ! 🙌

"Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!" (Luke 15:6)

Heaven is rejoicing, and so are we! Special thanks to our guest speakers, Ps Ricky Mongo and Ps Daniel Kawage, and to every church and volunteer who made this camp possible.

Camp continues through 24th September, keep praying and keep coming!

Update from the closing meeting at Kami Baptist Church.

The faith leaders held an inhouse reconciliation program to prepare our hearts, strengthen our unity, and build a stronger bond of fellowship as we prepare for the upcoming District Combined Camp at Maranatha Baptist Church from 21st to 24th September 2026.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” Psalm 133:1

We thank God for a blessed time of reconciliation, fellowship, and spiritual preparation. May the Lord continue to guide, strengthen, and unite all the faith leaders as we prepare for the District Combined Camp.

Today, the Unggai Bena Baptist pastors and preachers went out for an outreach at Bumbu Market. We thank God for His faithfulness. Two souls were saved and gave their lives to Christ!

“There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:10

Building Strong Foundations for Greater Impact!

We are excited to share another important milestone in the journey of Unggai Bena Faith Leaders Association Inc.

Last week, I had the privilege of completing the EU-funded UNDP Training of Trainers Programme for Civil Society Organisations and receiving my Certificate of Participation.

The training covered governance, proposal writing, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilisation, and facilitation skills, knowledge that will directly strengthen our Association as we continue building a credible, accountable, and sustainable Christian-led organisation.

As a newly established Association, we are intentionally investing in strong leadership, good governance, and organisational capacity so we can better serve our communities and become a trusted partner for churches, government, and development partners.

This is another step forward in our mission to empower communities through faith, leadership, and sustainable development.

We thank UNDP and the European Union for investing in local organisations like ours. We also thank everyone who continues to pray for, encourage, and support our journey.

When Pastor Rex Sombe went home to be with the Lord, his pulpit was left empty. Across Papua New Guinea, many villages are still waiting for their first faithful pastor, church, and gospel witness. Goroka Baptist Bible College is training national leaders to help meet that need, but more space is needed to prepare and send them.

Last Friday, the faith leaders came together for their end-of-month meeting at Goshipa.

As part of the program, they held a dedication prayer for a new concrete mixer, wheelbarrow, and the foundation of a new church.

The meeting also included updates on the Unggai-Bena Baptist Pastors & Preachers Outreach Program at Segeya Village and Rintebe Secondary School, as well as discussions on their respective and collective work across the district.

We are not simply building classrooms. We are helping prepare the next generation of pastors for Papua New Guinea.

Goroka Baptist Bible College has spent decades training national leaders to preach the Word, plant churches, and bring the gospel to communities that have never had a faithful shepherd. The fruit has been real. But the need is far greater than the current campus can meet.

The next phase of the GBBC expansion will provide two new classroom buildings and faculty housing for professors, creating space for more students to be trained and sent across the nation.

Faithful donors have already given to help reach the goal. This summer, will you help make room for more?

When Pastor Rex Sombe left the clinic in Papua New Guinea for the last time, his final words were praise for every soul the gospel had reached. Days later, he was gone. His pulpit stood empty.

Across Papua New Guinea, that story is not unique. Entire villages have no pastor, no church, and no gospel presence. Goroka Baptist Bible College is training national leaders to change that, but the need is greater than the campus can currently support.
