God is up to something in the Jungle!
We currently have 9 students - from 3 different indigenous people groups - enrolled to take our Discipleship Training School (DTS). Most will arrive by boat via the river and/or auto. The first 2 students will arrive as early as this week!
Prayers are continually lifted asking God to transform these students and staff into more of His likeness.
The base is almost ready. But we have a HUGE challenge. We need finances to make it happen! All of the current students enrolled and the visiting staff are from indigenous families, families that live way below the poverty line. This is where you come in!
You have an opportunity to allow an indigenous student to attend the school, hear from God, develop his character, discover and enhance his natural gifts and talents and to dream a bigger dream with God.
A TESTIMONY:
3 years ago, we had a shipibo student go through our school. His dream was to play or coach soccer. It came down to his last days in the DTS and he really felt God was calling him to take a Sports Leadership School, but the finances were not there for his flight or the tuition. His words were, "I guess I will follow in the footsteps of my father and be a carpenter and help in the church."
We kept praying for him. In just a few days, he had his flight paid for, his tuition was paid for and he was on his way. That's just the beginning! This young man who thought he had no way of walking out his dream as a soccer player/coach, has travelled to several countries, including South Africa, to teach in soccer schools. He is currently back in his community teaching Physical Education in the primary schools in the river communities and finishing his 3rd year to become a professional soccer coach and has a dream of opening a soccer academy in his community!
He is the reason "Why" we want to help the indigenous students live out their God-given callings and dreams.
YOU can help facilitate those dreams!
We have estimated a cost of approximately $1000 per student and staff, with a goal of reaching $10,000!
That costs includes: Tuition with the University of the Nations, Classroom Materials, Teacher Flights and Honorariums, Room, Board, Transportation, etc.
Some of our students need immediate financial help for transportation costs to arrive to the base. (That is part of the estimated $1000).
