He Pānui: Te Tai Tokerau and Te Rūnanganui 2025

Tēnā koutou,

Te Hui Amorangi o Te Tai Tokerau has decided that we will not be attending Te Rūnanganui o Te Pīhopatanga o Aotearoa this year. This decision follows careful consideration by our Komiti Tumuaki and is grounded in our responsibility to uphold the wellbeing of our Bishop, our clergy, and our lay representatives.

We also want to acknowledge our Bishop. He continues to have our pastoral and relational support, and we are committed to ensuring that he, and all involved, are given the space needed while an official Church process runs its proper course.

This is a temporary and protective decision. It is not a withdrawal from Te Pīhopatanga o Aotearoa, and we remain committed to Tikanga Māori and to the unity, ministry and mission of our Church.
We look forward to re-engaging with Te Rūnanganui once the process concludes and the environment is right for all Amorangi to participate fully.

Ngā manaakitanga,

Te Komiti Tumuaki o Te Hui Amorangi ki Te Tai Tokerau

Nau mai haere mai e te whanau next Sunday 9 March after karakia and kapū tī for a wānanga kōrero on Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney.
Mā te Karakia, mā te panui Pāipera, mā Whakapono ka whakaritea e ōu tātou wairua mō te haerenga ki tua o te arai
By karakia, the Bible and our Faith we prepare ourselves spiritually for our journey. Engari me whakaritea tātou ki te taha ture hoki mō tō tātou haerenga ki tua o te arai - ki te kore, he raru kei te haere mō tō tātou whanau

But we should also prepare ourselves from a legal perspective for our deaths - if we do not, it will cause issues for our whanau
Topics to be covered

1. What is a Will
2. How to make one
3. What happens if you do not have a will
4. What is an Enduring Power of Attorney (this is a document where you appoint a person to make decisions for you in the future, if you lose your mental capacity. There are 2 types of powers of attorney - personal care and welfare (making decisions about your health related matters) and property (acting for you on your bank accounts and property)
5. What happens if you do not have an Enduring Power of Attorney
