Whangarei Heads Historic Church Protection Trust The Whangarei Heads Pioneer Church, established in 1858, has been a continuous centre of the community.

With the imminent threat of a commercial sale, the members of the Whangarei Heads community and descendants of the earlier settlers purchased the historical church in 2014 for benefit of the community and to retain this piece of history for future generations.
