WILL HE FIND FAITH ON THE EARTH?

Greetings Church

The rise of injustice, war, hatred, division caused by various opinions in the political and social life is so rampant. We feel disheartened and weary, but God has given us the mandate to keep seeking Him in such times with even greater zeal. Only He is able to bring true peace and security in unstable times. The groanings of the earth have increased, with earthquakes and tsunamis on the rise. The celestial bodies are giving such signs of the soon coming of the Son of Man. When we look all around and see the wickedness and oppression, we’re challenged to raise up our voices even more in prayer.

The parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-8, is so timely for us as a Body of Christ. According to the Jewish law, the widows deserved special protection; but even though she is being denied justice, she doesn’t lose heart and continues to seek justice. Her perseverance moves even an ungodly and uncaring judge to action and he says, “Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.” (Luke 18: 4-5).

Contrasting to this worldly judge who was so reluctant to render his service, we serve a just God, who is willing to act on behalf of all who look to him. We are the elect Bride of Christ and the just Judge is our heavenly Father God. Jesus says in verse 7, “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I believe, Jesus is setting a mandate here for his Bride: to keep crying to him day and night for justice. This continual commitment to prayer and supplication can bring such reward, but sadly not many want to be persistent and get caught up in the worldly ways of fighting for justice and liberty.

Prayer is our weapon of warfare. When the going gets tough, we don’t lose heart but we go deeper in our times of prayer. Our God is able to bring vengeance. Prayer builds the atmosphere of faith and allows us to look beyond the natural into the spiritual dimensions. It’s here that the Holy Spirit fills us with words and groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8: 26). All past revivals were birthed in prayer; and this end time revival is one that will unite the Church for a great spiritual awakening.

The prominent question that Jesus asks at the end of this parable in verse 8, “Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
