A major flash flood has torn through Nepal, killing hundreds and leaving many more missing.

Anglican Missions are responding through trusted partners on the ground, and will direct your gifts to where it’s most needed. As assessments continue, we are working out how best to channel New Zealanders’ generosity to the communities worst affected.

Prayers for Sunday 6 September:
Prayers inspired by original prayers, ‘Anō te pai’ by Mike Ross. Bosco Peters ‘Creation Sunday’, Psalm 119:33-40; Ezekiel 33:7-11; Romans 13:8-14; Matthew 18:15-20.

Anō te pai
Anō te āhuareka
Tō te Ariki tika me pono
He tōmairangi i ngā maunga
He puna waiora
He whenua haumako

How good
How beautiful
Is the Lord’s justice and truth -
It is dew on the mountains
A spring of living water,
A flourishing land.
Tihei Mauri ora!

Housing Election Forum 2026

Join church leaders, community voices, and political representatives for a unique forum on one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most pressing challenges: Housing. Hosted by church and community organisations, the Housing Election Forum 2026 will explore homelessness, housing affordability, social housing, and pathways to secure, safe and dignified homes for all. Hear perspectives grounded in faith and community experience, learn about the housing policies being proposed by political parties, and be part of the conversation about creating a future where everyone has a decent home.

Wednesday 23 September 2026
Wellington Cathedral of St Paul

Refreshments from 5:45pm | Forum begins 6:30pm | Ends 8:00pm
Livestream and recording available nationwide.

Prayers for Sunday 30 August
22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time/Te Rātapu Rua Tekau mā rua o He Wā Noa

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
[Romans 12:9-13]
